PETIT JEAN STATE PARK
by shohman
about 1 1/2 hours from Little Rock. Petit Jean is a fantastic State park. Petit Jean is a mountain with great views, caves, etc. There is also a great waterfall, Camping, Views of the river. Little Rock itself is not very interesting, But I would highly suggest exploring Jen Petit.

Trio's, another favorite of everyone here; excellent service, an upscale menu and an excellent wine selection.
Outdoor dining, weather permitting; not open Sunday Shrimp Enchiladas with Cream Cheese rice

"The Rock"
This town can be spectacular...you just have to know where to look and what to do once you get there. My friend Anthony does an exceptional job of posting events and places...ranked of course! http://www.littlerockblog.com or http://www.myspace.com/littlerockblog
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Little Rock, Arkansas
by frankcanfly
In the spring of 2002, I organized a picnic for the local communities' Big Brothers Big Sisters children who weren't yet matched up with a "Big".
I gathered 18 of my local friends and coworkers, and committed them to 'giving back' for a day.
On the military base, I found that many of the agencies jumped at the chance to help..
The TV news arrived, 2 channels!!
We showed them airplanes, and so many things to broaden their perspectives.
To anyone who is considering becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, ask me, I'll tell you how great it is.
The Fire Department came for a demonstration. Many of the kids were excited to put on the uniforms and sit in the cab.
They were more excited here than they were in the airplanes! I don't get it.......
The Drug Sniffing Dogs gave a demonstration. I heard many "oooohs" and "aaahhs"
We played games, had contests, and just had a great day overall.
I did the same thing in Knoxville, TN two years earlier. Have a look at that travelogue too.
