Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley
Situated in the western San Garbiel Valley not far from downtown Los Angeles, Alhambra has become part of a large Asian community in southern California. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Asians began settling into the San Garbriel Valley in cities such as Monterey Park, Montebello, and Rosemead. That community has grown to other parts of the San Garbriel Valley and as a result has become a mecca of very good Asian restaurants, particularly Chinese. It has been said that the best Asian food is in southern California and the San Gabriel Valley in particular.
My Alhambra page exists for a tip on a very good dim sum restaurant we went to in January 2007, Triumphal Palace.
