Very nice Ayres Hotel, comfy beds :)

    by

Once again, the Ayres group of hotels delivers! We stayed here July 2011....

This nice hotel is situated in Alpine which is an area about 30 minutes from downtown San Diego, but with nice pine trees and cooler. I just woke up with birds and noticed the nice chirping of the birds, as mentioned in other reviews, haha
The hotel is just off the freeway, and the outside and inside of the hotel were newly painted, and looks like the interior was also carefully decorated with the nice dark wood furniture. The lobby continues to have the European-style fireplace motif as found in Ayres hotels, with a fast computer for use. The deskman, James, was very professional and good at welcoming guests.
There is no fee for the parking.
The room is standard size but with nice comfy bed and pillows. There is small desk for our room with queen beds --- there seems to be more walking space if you get a King bed room which we did see near us. However, there is no ref or microwave in the room. But I did see an ironing board and hair blower. The bathroom was clean with strong flush at the toilet. My wife like the room because she said it had a clean smell to it.
Breakfast is available from 6-9 AM on weekdays, up to 10 AM weekends. The lady was very nice and attentive at the kitchen. We made 3-minute waffles, eggs, oatmeal, fruit slices, boiled eggs….haha, and nice to eat outside the lobby….
The aircon was good in the room, but the vent fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy (room 233) when turned on (noticed it just during the morning when I turned the bathroom lights on and wife was still asleep and she heard the vent, haha).
There is also a small strip mall beside it with this fantastically yummy Chinese-Japanese fusion place called Panda-Mushi (?) – and the food was very affordable there.
The hotel is also just 10 minutes from the Viejas casino and outlets, and there is shuttle service available for the casino 24 hours – just tell the front desk.
