More about Cortona Inn And Suites Anaheim Resort
Nice, clean room. Just as expected (Thanks TripAdvisor!)
We just got back from a 4 night stay (6/3-6/7/2005) at the Days Inn on 2029 S. Harbor Blvd (there are several Days Inns in the area and this is the newest one). I had booked the room back in mid-April thru the Days Inn site and got a room rate of 89/nite for Fri & Sat and 79/nite for Sun & Mon, with tax and all it ended up at 386 total.
I had read all the reviews on here before booking so I knew what to expect. We had a regular two double bed room on the third floor. The room was clean but the shower smelled sour like if the curtain needs washing. The rest of the room was clean and nicely decorated for the price. The beds are hard but we're used to a pillow top. There is a safe in the room which really comes in handy. There is a nice size fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. I brought microwave popcorn with us but we didn't end up using it since we weren't in the room much. We got the danish and orange juice breakfast a few mornings.
The first 3 nights we were there we didn't hear any noise from outside or the other rooms but the last night there (a Monday) there were people running down the walkway late at night and kids hollering in the morning. We didn't hear any noise from the other rooms in our room (ie. toilets flushing or showers) but we were on the top floor. We didn't use the pool. It is small but looks very clean and nice and there is a little hot tub next to it. The parking is scarce at night but we always managed to get a space.
The walk to Disney is 15 minutes. They say "1 block" but that is probably the one long block to the corner of the Disney property then you have to walk another long block to the gate to get in. There is 15 min parking right by the Disney gate so if you can get one member of your party to walk down to the hotel and get the car they can come back and pick up the rest of the group. There is also an ART bus that they said costs $3 a day if you buy the ticket at the hotel and you can ride all day.
Overall we were very happy with this room for the price.
Normally we stay at the Portofino Inn and Suites. However, this hotel was new and had an attractive rate ($89.95/night for a kids suite) so we decided to give it a try. We had reserved our room over three months in advance. We checked in at 1:00 PM (after an 8 hour drive with cranky and tired children), but our room (a kid's suite) was not clean yet. Staff took our credit card info and told us to come back after 3:00 PM to get the keys. We went to Downtown Disney for lunch, and when we returned at around 3:30 PM we attempted to get the keys to our room. We were told that the room we reserved was not available (why didn't they tell us that at 1:00?) and they had upgraded us to a family suite (actually two adjoining standard king rooms). When we entered the rooms, there was luggage on the beds, and clothes everywhere. It was obvious that someone was already using these rooms. It turns out that the hotel had overbooked and they had no rooms for us at all!! We ended up checking with the Portofino Inn and Suites, and they had availability so we moved there. Staff at the Days Inn was not apologetic, and the manager did not even want to talk to us at first.
Needless to say, I am not giving this hotel chain a good rating.
We stayed here in April and got a great deal through expedia. We paid $350.00cad for a five night stay including tax which could not be found anywhere else! It was absolutely fine for the price and we had a great stay. The continental breakfast did wear a little thin after five mornings as it never changed and my hungry teenage boys were still very hungry when we arrived at the parks. Unfortunately the car rental company is no longer based at the motel as we had hoped to rent our car right on the premises but there are many places to rent close by.
Good rooms, shame about breakfast...
Perfectly nice rooms and good swimming pool. However the breakfast room had not been cleaned since the previous day- tables were filthy - and breakfast was put out late (pretty crucial when you're desperate to get to Disneyland at opening time.) Actually the breakfast was so minimal we decided not to bother. It was our first stay at a Days Inn,so maybe we were just expecting too much(compared to Quality Inn, Comfort Inn or Best Westerns where we had stayed earlier in the trip.) On the plus side, only 20 minutes to walk to the park so saved on car parking!
Just got back from taking my 10 yr old son to Disneyland. Was on a budget and didn't want to spend alot of money a room you are never in. This hotel is in walking distance to the entrance to Disneyland park. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave. The pool and hot-tub were great.
We enjoyed our stay and would stay at this hotel again
wish I had read these reviews before we went
We Stayed four nights at the Days Inn. I was expecting a little more from the "deluxe" continental breakfast. We picked this hotel because we thought we could save money by not having to buy breakfast. Several of the men in our group headed over to Carl's Jr. in the morning bacause stale Danish and muffins just didn't satisfy. There was no milk which was hard for the kids. Ended up buying some at the convience store down the street and having cereal in our room. We have stayed accross the street from the park before, which was much more convienient. Sometimes the ART shuttles were full (in october!) and we didn't get on.
Not as advertised - completely disappointing
I heeded the advice of the positive reviews on this site and booked this property for a recent weekend to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. Granted, this was a holiday (Veteran's Day) weekend so attendance in this Disneyland area was higher than usual, however the problems we encounted seemed more systemic than volume related.
The facility is mediocre at best (our first room's carpet was damp, no bath mat), staff seems untrained in basic customer service skills, and their systems are not connected with the online booking companies (they receive faxes from companies such as Expedia, Hotels etc. rather than electronic transmission). They do not take the room type selected and paid for online seriously - you get whatever they have available, regardless. I booked and paid for a "kid's suite" upfront, but was told upon check-in none were available. We were provided a 2-bed queen room instead, which is a lower rate (the terms false advertising and fraud came to mind). To add insult to injury, we were "moved" on the second night without our knowledge while at a dinner event, returning late in the evening to find we were locked out of the room we had just left at 6pm. The night staffer, after taking quite a while to discover that we had been moved to a "kid's suite" as originally booked, initially refused to allow us back in the room because housekeeping staff had moved our belongings and the room was "cleaned and locked awaiting new arrivals". When we finally convinced him he was mistaken and that our belongings had not been moved into the new room, he reluctantly allowed us access into the old room but never apologized for his error. The room had not been touched since we left it earlier in the evening; our belongings in the same condition we left them. Once seeing that housekeeping had not prepped the room for new guests as he assumed, he tried in vain to convince us just to stay in that room after all.
Don't let the photos, price tags or claims of "free continental breakfast" (they shouldn't even bother, considering what is offered) fool you. It is nothing more than an overpriced, low-end MOTEL with bad service. If you choose to book this property, especially online, be forewarned. You may not end up in the type of room you've booked and paid for, resulting in frustration and disappointment, as was our case.
better than expected
After reading all the differing opinions, just has we did when we went to Mazatlan last winter, knew how to read between the lines. This is a better than average hotel in this area, some are better looking, some look like dumps, but we found our Kids Suite a great deal. The layout is terrific for a little privacy at the end of the day, the room was clean, the layout of the hotel away from the main road, (Harbor Blvd is definitley where you want to stay for easy walking to DL) kept most noise out, sure you can hear people out at the pool, but it gets quiet at 10 sharp seemed. And in the morning you can hear some people leaving for DL, but we were getting to go too, it`s what we were all there for anyway seeingly. Don`t count on a big breakfast, danishes, muffins, corn flakes/cheerios and juice. But, we did have a fridge and micro, so we stopped at the ABC Mart on the way home and got our own stuff too.
As far as distances go, we thought this was about as far has you would want to walk, about 10 minutes only, did not want to wait for shuttles and its not really that far, but next hotel down is a ways further. Overall, if you are going to spend most of your time at DL, this is a good base, might find better, but not at this price, and pool is pretty clean too.
Worst Hotel Ever
We booked this hotel through Getawaytoday. We had reservation papers and confo number. upon checking in, we were told that our room was cancelled. After driving 300+ miles, you don NOT want to hear this. I asked who cancelled, the idiot of a staff member claimed that getway cancelled and when I asked what I do, because I had already paid over $800 for the vacation package, he said ' i guess you call getaway. It was a sunday, and we reached getaways emergency hotline number. While waiting for them to call back, my husband confronted the hotel staff. The guy we talked to was very uncaring, basically saying it wasnt his problem, and we need to figure it out on our own. His co-worker, another ***, went about dusting his computer....yes..dusting!! He had a look like it was his buddies mess to deal with us and not his! I have never seen anything like it in my life.
Long story short....getaway got back to us, we told them the wasy we were treated. they tried to contact the days inn, but they wouldnt answer the phone ( we were in our car across the street talking with getaway on our cell phone). The getaway representative got us a rush order room at the Crown Plaza resort and she even got us an extra bed and microwave and fridge at no extra cost. We had reserved a mini suite at they days inn, so she wanted to make sure we got all the anmenities that we had paid for. She was awesome! She also told us that Days inn had overbooked and that THEY! cancelled us, not getaway! I guess they have a history of overbooking. All said, we got a better hotel, for the days inn price. Trust me, there all alot of WAY better hotels to stay at, and after seeing the days inn, I am glad al this happened, because its just a small hotel with a small pool...and crappy staff members. Oh, and when my husband went back to confront the days inn idiot again, he ran in the back office. Rather funny. I wouldnt book this hotel if it was Free!!
My husband and I are planning an elaborate trip out of the counrty, so when talk of our hooneymoon came up in conversation, we did not know what to do. We wanted to go to a place that would leave us with great memories, but not break our savings for our other trip. We are from Texas so we had decided to drive down to San Antonio and stay there for a week, but he wanted to do something more special than that, because you only get one honeymoon after all. So the morning we were to drive to San Antonio, My husband called Expedia and made reservations for us to go to Disneyland! We asked the representative from expedia right away what we wanted. We specified a two star hotel. Our trip was not about spending time in an over-rated,over elaborate, and overpriced facility. When you book into a two star hotel, you know what you're in for. So many times on these reviews people go on and on about how their stay was not "royal". Guess what, if you are not Royalty, and you stay at a two star hotel...you don't get the royal treatment. Our stay at the Days Inn was great. We checked in, and much to our surprise, the room was huge. The living area is separate from the bedroom which is great. There are two televisions in the suitee. A refrigerator and microwave, and more towels than I knew what to do with. The employees were all Californian...enough said. We were not there to enjoy their company, we were there for Disneyland by the way. Each morning we left our room, and each evening we returned as if it was our first time in the door, everything was super clean, and our towels were overstocked again. The continental breakfast consist of coffee, bread, and apples, but again...IT IS A TWO STAR HOTEL. If you are going to Califonia I would suggest this hotel, the location is great, the people are good, and everything else is very standable. Enjoy the time spent with family, and don't ruin your vacation, because they did not have the super deluxe brakfast, or because the consierge messed up. Have a great time regardless of what happens...you only get one time around..so enjoy!

Ridemax Disneyland: Has anyone purchsed, used?
Has anyone purchased Ridemax to help with a schedule for visiting Disneyland? Did it help? Thanks.
RE: RE: Ridemax Disneyland: Has anyone purchsed, used?
this is probably too late to be of help to you, but we bought and used it in the summer of '05 during the 50th celebration and MORE than got our money out of it. We rode our fave rides multiple times, never stood in line more than 15 minutes (and that was only once or twice) and still had time to go back to the hotel every day for a nap in the afteroon, returning at about 5pm to the park. We will never ever do Disney without it again.
