More about Staybridge Suites Anaheim

Nice, not great.

by TripAdvisor Member TahoeJuli

Stayed here for 5 nights. The hotel is a 3 star, at best. I booked here because they have 2 BR kitchen suites that are very convenient to have when you are travelling with kids. The rooms are also reasonably priced for the space. Negatives: Carpet has several stains in room and in hallways - needs a good cleaning. Our bathtub had black markings all over, seems to be permanent. The housekeeping during the week is called "light". They make the bed, change towels and take out garbage. No clean sheets all week and you clean your own kitchen area / dishwasher. We wanted to check-in at 1pm, but they wouldn't allow anyone to checkin until after 3pm. I asked if this was because our room wasn't clean yet and they said that there wasn't any room assigned yet! Just policy to have everyone wait until 3pm, I guess! The hotel isn't that close to Disney. We ended up driving our car there because our flex pass included parking. The hotel has a transport service that comes once every 20 mins and cost $4 pp per day. Faster to drive and park. Hotel on oneway street, so Disney is much further away because you can't turn left. If you decide to stay here, ask for a 'poolside room'. Other side of hotel faces I-5 and could be very noisey. We were on pool side and it was much quieter.

Good Choice

My family stayed at the Staybidge from Nov 1 - Nov 5. I never got the Internet connection on my laptop to work with the wall jack. Even after complaing to the front desk several times, it didn't work. However, on my last day I connected the PC to the box on top of the TV and voila..... Too little too late though..

The breakfasts were great... The hot food varied each day along with the meat. (french toast/pancakes/eggs and bacon/sausage links). There was always bread/bagels/english muffins to toast, and muffins/danishes/donuts. There was also instant oatmeal packets, and several different Kellogs Cereals to choose from along with apples and bananas.

They had peanut butter and a selection of jellies to put on the toast.

The property was well kept, and the kitchen in the room was the greatest selling point in why we booked there. My 3 year old is a very picky eater, so being able to cook dinner in the room was easy.

From a pool view room, the kids were able to see fireworks.

Everything was great except the internet connection (although the webtv did work)

a good family hotel

We were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms were clean and it was great to have a suite after a long day at Disneyland. The only thing that I would rate below average would be the sofa bed in the living area. It was not full sized, and only usable by small children. The breakfast was good but not fancy. There was always plenty of food. And choices to please anyone. A good choice and we certainly would return on our next trip. Or recommend to anyone (especially families).

No where to eat

by A TripAdvisor Member

My family and I checked into the Staybridge on a Wednesday afternoon. When we arrived at the hotel after travelling for 8 hours we were informed that the restaurant wasn't open. But to our delight there was a yummy Del Taco around the corner, past the freeway off ramp and mobile home park.
That night when we returned from Disneyland we tried the restaurant. If you like a lot of fat and grease you are in for a real treat. The hotel itself is ok. The staff are polite and the rooms are clean. But, if you are not a person who eats at fast food restaurants or if you enjoy things like fruits and vegetables then don't stay there. Needless to say we moved to another hotel the next day.

Not Good

Common areas were not always clean--food trays stayed in the halls for days. Front desk staff often unfriendly, unresponsive. The restaurant at the adjoining Holiday Inn was horrible, both the food and the service. Look elsewhere.

Nice stay at Staybridge Suites

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed in this Hotel for four nights on Feb 01, 2005. Overall the Hotel was clean, had nice grounds and a beautiful pool. Each morning started off with an amazing buffet with hot and cold breakfast items to choose from. There was a lot of variety to chose from, cottage cheese and fresh fruit for those who wanted something light, to waffels and eggs for those who like something a little more hearty.

We were travelling with 3 children under the age of 5 and always felt welcome by staff and patrons of the Hotel. The free laundry was a bonus but you do have to bring your own detergent and dryer sheets (which you can buy at the store in the Hotel). The pool and Hot tub were the nicest part of the Hotel with palm trees surrounding the area and lots of sun chairs and towels available.

The shuttle to Disneyland runs every half hour and takes about 10 minutes to get to Disney after stopping off at another Hotel. My only complaint would be with the "light touch" housekeeping during the weekdays. We arrived on Monday and left on Friday so our room wasn't cleaned (except for new towels and making of the beds" during our entire stay. We had 7 people eating and living in the area and it would have been nice to have the room vacumed and bathrooms cleaned out at least once during our stay. For $200 canadian a night I would have expected full housekeeping every day. Haveing said that I am a bit of a clean freak so maybe this wouldn't bother other people. Other than the housekeeping I had no other problems with this Hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful place for a family to stay.

Our family of 6 and our Neighbors family of 7 stayed at the Staybridge Feb 27 to Mar 5, 2005. What a wonderful place to stay. Great hot breakfast every morning with comfortable beds everynight. We caught the ART shuttle every morning with a 5 minute ride to the Park. We highly recommend this hotel.

Family friendly, great for the $$

JUST got back from So. Cal....stayed at two different hotels....this and a Disney Hotel. We stayed at Staybridge for 4 nights. Here is what we found:

Check-in and check-out: Front desk people weren't terribly impressive...sorry. I produced documents showing our quoted rate, and was still questioned. It wasn't a HUGE thing, but was a little frustrating. Luckily, it was the worst thing that happened.

Room: We had the King/Sleeper Sofa room. Clean and comfortable (with the exception of the incredibly uncomfortable sleeper sofa...as most are). The room was large enough for a few family members to drop by and visit. It was GREAT to have a kitchen....we spent a total of about $50 on food from Sat-Wed morning, for a family of four! Kept the meals easy so it wasn't too much work. Can't beat that! (Bummer there's no oven) Never heard any neighbors either.

Food: They provide a great breakfast buffet! Anything you want to toast, fruit, doughnuts, pastries, and fresh belgian waffles every morning! Also eggs and bacon or sausage daily too. We ate a huge breakfast daily, then ate light until dinner time. Lines are to be expected in the buffet.....GET A TABLE FIRST and plant a family member there while you dish up....then trade places. It's really not that big of a deal....seats are hard to come by as the breakfast is very popular. You always have the option of taking the food to your room as well. They also provide salad type snacks and drinks in the afternoon on T/W/Th. Those were good as well.

Amenities: Laundry room is clean...4 washers and 4 dryers. Bring your own detergent. Pool is a good size, as is the hot tub. They are, however, shared with the Holiday Inn that shares a property line. (Staybridge is a Holiday Inn property as well). Free internet on two computers. NO VCR or games in rooms.

Hallways: Yes...we also saw some food trays in the hall for longer than necessary. I believe the trays were from the neighboring Holiday Inn restaurant....and they neglected to pick them up in a timely fashion. Not the hotels fault....HOWEVER, since I didn't eat or sleep in the hall, who cares?!? It's not a big enough thing that you should be deterred because of it.

Location: Approx. 1.5 miles from Disneyland. We had a rental car, so it was fine. Even with the distance, we would definately stay there again. There are malls, food, grocery stores, etc., all within a mile in any direction.

Housekeeping: Not terribly impressed, but was okay. One day they didn't seem to be coming, so we put our towels in the hall and had fresh ones upon return....including kitchen towels.

Overall...we, including my kids, preferred this hotel to the Disneyland Hotel. The room, breakfast, free internet, pool, etc....it all added up to a great experience and we'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Affordable apartment-like hotel perfect for families

by A TripAdvisor Member

This was our 2nd stay at the Staybridge Suites in just over a year, so we knew what to expect. Last year we made do with a one bedroom suite, but none of our three kids would share a bed so one of them ended up sleeping on the floor. This year we opted for a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms. This time we had plenty of space with beds for everyone (and having the two bathrooms was nice). A very comfortable apartment-like accomodation made for a restful place to recharge our batteries after a busy day at Disneyland. The three TVs in the suite meant no fighting over what to watch! The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils, bowls and pots, etc. A coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, full refrigerator, stove top (no oven), and a table and chairs (for 4 only). The buffet breakfasts each morning with fresh fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, bacon, sausage, and make-your-own waffle machines, croissants, danishes, etc. was appreciated. Yes, it was busy at times with line ups but not for the full duration of the three hour breakfast service. The staff don't seem to mind if you take the food to your rooms - we often packed some of the fruit and made peanut butter sandwiches up in our suite (all from the breakfast buffet) to take with us to the park. The T-W-T evening manager's reception, with BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs on the Wednesday, were appreciated as well with complimentary wine, beer and pop.
Staff at the front desk seemed friendly and accomodating enough. But other than check in and out, and purchasing our ART tickets we didn't use their services much.
Local calls from the suites are free and they have a couple of PCs with free internet access downstairs in the lobby area.
The pool and spa were nice, although they seemed to run out of clean towels at the pool often and we found ourselves waiting around for some for quite awhile.
The free 24 hour laundry room facilities were appreciated too (pack your own detergent). If you need to workout they have a few modest pieces of equipment in an adjacent room.
The halls were frequently left with dirty food trays, garbage and linens - seems they have difficulty getting enough staff to clean, or perhaps thats just not important for them. Its true they don't clean floors and bathrooms daily in the suites. They will come in and make the beds, empty the garbage and replace dirty towels with clean towels. But one day they forgot to do our room. We made do as we still had sufficient clean towels and we got back so late from Disneyland we were too tired to complain. I suppose this hotel places a higher priority on feeding guests than cleaning their rooms (hey, nobody cleans my house at home daily either!).
The ART shuttle is a convenient service that takes you from the hotel to Disneyland. Its $3 for a daily pass, or you can buy a 5 day pass for $12, with unlimited rides during each day. Children 9 and under are free with a paying adult. We were there during a very busy spring break and heard other people complain about long waits to get the shuttle - fortunately the longest we ever waited was about 20 minutes.
If you're looking for a comfortable and affordable family hotel, you can't go wrong staying here. Just lighten up a bit on your cleanliness expectations and you won't be disappointed. But if you want to be pampered with services and luxury then look elsewhere!

loved it

Stayed at this hotel in February in two 1 bedroom suites (10 people total)and had no complaints, everything was very clean the living room and bedroom had their own tvs so everyone could enjoy their own private time. The pool was great! and the hot tub was a great size. There were kids always playing basket ball tennis and stuff to keep them busy. The breakfast in the morning was very filling with waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal. scrammbledeggs, bacon, juice coffee everything..... it was very satisfying. They even had pre printed directions from the hotel to all major attractions.... very helpful.
Would highly recommend this hotel.... keep in mind that this hotel shares the pool with the Holiday Inn located next door so in the summer months it may get a little crowded. The Anaheim resort transit also picks up next door.
