Best Western Crystal Palace Inn
When we got to Bakersfield we were in desperate need of a hotel after a long day of driving from Las Vegas, through Death Valley and the Kern River Valley. We got some complimentary La Quinta WiFi and determined the Best Western was the best deal in the area at around $62 a night. When we walked over to the front desk, they told be $85 a night. I mentioned the internet rate, and she pointed me to the computer and told me to book it there if I wanted to pay that amount. Knowing it would take some time to process, we booked the room then went and grabbed dinner.
Once we finally got our room, we were pleased to find this was a nice hotel with a pool, huge courtyard, large rooms with balconies, free WiFi, and breakfast. If you are a Buck Owens fan (Who's not?), his Crystal Palace concert venue is next door. They get some pretty big names there like Merle Haggard, Sammy Kershaw, and Steve Holy.
