Hockey ~ Bakersfield Condors
Not too many know that Bakersfield has a semi pro hockey team the Condors. We've been to many of their games and always enjoy it. You can see them at the Robobank Sports Arena. This particular night they were have Alumni night for the University of Phoenix graduates. It was awesome. We had seats right behind the goalies and they served us dinner and we had actually had couches to sit on. We had lots of fun and enjoyed the dinner and game so much. Even if we didn't have such wonderful seats, we still enjoy watching a good hockey game.

Rolling out of Bakersfield
Just like Mecca and Medina in Islamic tradition, Moscow and Beijing in communism, and Daytona and Charlotte in NASCAR... Nashville and Bakersfield and the #1 and #2 cities in American country music. Who knew Bakersfield was country music's second city?
Birthplace of legends Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, the Bakersfield influence is also heard in modern country music sung by Dwight Yoakam, the Mavericks, Marty Stuart, and Bakersfield native Gary Allan.
Bakersfield is the county seat of Kern County, and boasts a population of about 375,000 people. Bakersfield is also in the San Joaquin Valley, perhaps the nation's most abundant farming area. Around Bakersfield you will find citrus, cotton, grapes, nuts and a wide variety of vegetables. The valley also has its share of oil fields, and is California's major oil producing region.
