We will be in Bakersfield, California on August 4-5. Suggestions for what to do and see there for my 15 year old daughter...I will be with a friend on a Search And Rescue simulated operation (if I can find something to occupy my daughter for a few hours ;O))

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but that it like a great title for an independent film.
There isn't much to do in Bakersfield for a 15 YOA by themselve. I would find a movie theater and buy them a ticket. If you want to take them somewhere try the Buck Owens theater, if they like either country or western.
Thanks James, but most 15 year olds do not like Country or Western, unless it is Reagee (sorry don't know the spelling), punk rock or heavy metal....
Well maybe I will take her on the SAR with me, she does like to abseil off cliffs.

What to do in Bakersfield? Drive north to Sequoia national park! Or drive west until you hit the pacific ocean.

This is a favorite of many locals because of the friendly staff, comfortable decor, and good food. We like to come here for breakfast and to just sit and relax. It is located near the old downtown area. They have a very lovely patio in the back if you choose to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful summer afternoons or eveninigs.
