El Rancho Barstow: Hangin' in there

I wanted to enclude this motel, although I never stayed in it. This motel has been one of the most photograhed motels along the Route 66 in Barstow. This establishment has seen many hard times and some lucky ones too. Built around 1946 or 47, it served during its hay day of Route 66 weary travelers. Supposely built with actual wooden railroad ties from the Tonepah & Tidewater railroad line and said once been frequented by the likes of Marilyn Monroe. Who knows? Still the lure of that tale is interesting and you just never know. It has exchanged hands numerous times, with each new owner investing money in renovating it. Santa Fe had a contract for its employees well in the 1970's, but they are gone. Now, part of the motel is renting to permanent residents, but still has a reserve of rooms left for anyone who wants to check out the historic Route 66 El Rancho Motel.

Route 66 Motel: What else!

This establishment is noted in the Trip Advisor in having some good reviews and one bad one. It is located along Route 66 and has been noted in having some really nice owners who have taken on the take to preserve some old fashion service. It is located in the heart of downtown to sightsee and has lots of interesting artifacts located about the property to add interest and charm. So check it out some time!

Cactus Motel: Like the old days

I wanted to enclude this motel because it looks as if someone had finally taken care of it. It has been noted on the web it was run down, but it doesn't look that way now. It was neat and clean and no one shady characters lurking around. Although people, do not kid yourselves. Anytime you have a old historic downtown you are going to have the homeless people walking up and down the street. When we were there, not one approached us. Anyways, wanted to enclude this establishment because it looked nice and you just never know.

Holiday Inn Express Suites & Hotel: Free internet connection!!!

This is a new Holiday Inn Express with 3 floors, interior corridors, meeting rooms, business center, fitness center and jacuzzi suites. It also offers a pretty extensive continental breakfast in the morning as well as evening cookies (chocolate chip, white chocolate chip and oatmeal), iced tea, regular tea and coffee.

One of the unique things about this place is the free high speed internet access!!! That is truly a blessing. It also has an outdoor pool and spa, ample parking for semi, RV, bus, and a 135 outlet mall is adjacent to the property.

Holiday Inn Express: First Class service

The service is great, and people bend over backwards to help. They offer a continental breakfast in the morning, coffee all day long, and popcorn in every room. This is a pet friendly hotel. Rates start at $60.00 per night.

Stay away from the Days Inn.: Stay away from the Days Inn.

This hotel messed up the credit card billing for myself and my coworkers so bad that they maxed out our cards and another guy wasn't charged at all. The staff at the front desk doesn't know what they are doing and the manager has a major communication problem. The beds are EXTREMELY uncomfortable. STAY AWAY FROM THE DAYS INN.
