Pleasant stroll
There are lots of trails around Big Bear Lake. You need a permit (which is cheap) to go hiking during certain times of the year like the winter time. Just stop by your local guide office to buy one! Hiking shoes and a good lunch. =)

Weekend Paradise
I honed my skiing skills here. I spent inumerable days here. I got drunk here. I was hung over here. I met my wife here.
Big Bear is a treasure trove of memories for me. I have had my very best days skiing here. Even though I have skiied Colorado, Utah, and West Virginia I have still had my best days at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
I have skiied small resorts and the big ones. I am no stranger to powder, slush, cordouroy, and ice.
This has been my weekend getaway spot for 10 years now. I have now moved the family to Texas and I will miss the Bear.
I guess it's because of all the memories. Skiing with my friends all day. Skiing hard, skiing soft. Just skiing is enough.
I wanted desperately to take my son and just before we moved I went up with Carren and Tanner for three days. She rented a charming A-frame for us and we just hung out as a family. We took our dog too. Bosco is a Labrador Retreiver and he flat out loved it.
