Brea Public Art Figures- Modern "Family"
by marinarena
Like in any suburb, the family as a unit is a main feature here. This public statue, located near Brea's Birch Street Promenade, is a wonderful piece called, "The Family" by Gregory Hawthorn. I have passed this by many times.
Located on the NE Corner of Brea Blvd. and Ash- near the Brea Improv and Birch Street Promenande.
There are many other public art pieces in the town that I will capture and feature here. This is an on-going little pleasure sight-seeeing for me to do!
Come to a Hip Hangout and park for free!!
by marinarena
OK, this is not a major tip but in car-loving southern California, this is a very nice thing to know. Downtown Brea's Birch Street Promenade has free parking! Woo-hoo! Try to park at or near Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and I'll beg you to tell me how this is possible. There is a nice-sized parking structure by Edwards Theaters (and adjacent from the Improv, which is shown here) that accomodates very well, even with the huge Saturday night crowd. Also there is enough parking in the back lot of Tower Records as well as in the nearby town center adjacent to the Birch Street Promenade. Free parking for such a good-time entertainment area- what paradise!
A Picnic Right off the Freeway

Ted Craig Regional Park
I went here for a party for one of my nieces. This is a beautiful park that is easy to miss although it is off the freeway. The lush forest of trees are only visible while on the 57 freeway going south. Many locals go here for jogging, fishing, other recreational sports, barbeques and birthday parties. Take a break from the road and find a spot for a picnic on the 129 acre natural beauty!
Camp at Carbon Canyon
by marinarena
Need a little escape from the city and suburbs? Well if in Brea, head NE in the Carbon Canyon area to get "away from it all"- it, being the hectic life where the people are. Head out to the hills and near the wildlife.
See pics on website!
Brea, CA

"A bit of Small Town in a LARGE CITY"
Brea is part of the Greater Los Angeles "complex" of suburbs which spralls from Angeles National Forest to the North meeting up with San Diego to the South.
Still Brea has a bit of a small town "feel" to it.
