No trip to Buellton is complete without a trip to Andersen's Split Pea Soup. Heck, I don't think there's any other reason to stop in Buellton. Almost every time I pass by this place I have to stop in and have a bowl or two or at the very least use the bathroom. This is a favorite stop for members of the AARP and motorcycle gangs alike. Do yourself a favor and stop in pull up a chair and have yourself a bottomless bowl of the best split pea soup in all of California. If you don't have the time to eat it there you can always take it with you. The soup will usually cool down by the time you reach your destination. If you're not a thrill seeker and don't wish to drive with a dangerously thin 32 oz styrofoam cup of piping hot, thick liquid you can always take a can or two to heat up when you're nice and safe at home.
