any golf?

My hubby wants to know if there are any municipal golf courses in Buena Park area - we will have a car.

The only public golf in the area is Buena Park Golf Center which is a 9 hole course. Green fees under $10. 714-562-0840 for info and tee times.
If you are looking for a full 18 hole course, here are two others in neighboring cities that might be of interest:
- La Mirada Golf Course (562) 943-7123
- HG Dad Miller Golf Course which was Tiger Woods home course when he was in high school. (714) 765-3481
I've only golfed at Dad Miller and that was quite awhile ago. All I remember was that the fairway and greens were so-so. Play was slow throughout.

Cheap Motels!

For someone visiting Buena Park because of Knott's Berry Farm and/or other attractions here, you'll be happy to know that accomodations are very affordable. Along Beach Blvd, there are decent places to stay for as low $30/ night. These prices reflect motels which are for the most part good enough for the frugal traveller who wants the basics and not a lot of frills. For those who prefer good quality, most hotels still just range from the late $40s to just less than $100. I'll make some examples soon here or e-mail me for this info!
Haunted Shack

An obvious ripoff from Disneyland's Haunted mansion. I guess this was the slum area for the ghost set. This would be a "warning or danger" tip if Knott's Berry Farm didn't engage in a little "urban renewal" here in 2000. The warning sign at the entrance says Due to optical illusions and special effects of this attraction, you must be able to walk on sloping surfaces and free from the effects of vertigo.

Some of the rides are not roller coaster speed. This ride is of a train through a mining camp. In side the mountain you can learn about how prospectors dug for gold. Outside the mountain as the train goes around you can get a view of the park. It is a nice ride but not for thrill seekers.

Must see the live shows. It is the best part of Knott's. We saw the indian dancing. It was very informative and educational. We watched the saloon girls put on a show and drank sasparilla. We saw the cowboy stuntmen and they were hilarious. The very best part of Knott's is the history and the live performances. Don't miss the live shows if you go there.

Visited Buena Park for one day to go to Knott's Berry Farm. Drove through part of Buena Park. It looked like a nice enough place. That is all I'll say about Buena Park. The rest of this page will be about our time at Knott's.
