    Other Options are Usually Better

    by

Once, I reviewed this place and choose instead to stay at a place nearer the intersection of W Ball Road and Beach Blvd, which is about equidistant from the two theme parks--Knottsberry Farm and Disneyland. Thus, this is one of many corporate hotels in Buena Park and Anaheim are catering to families coming to these theme parks. All these places offer specials, so shop around. Look for one that has free shuttle service not only to the local airports, but also to the theme parks. Check out the Youtube tour of the Motel 6 to learn more. Don't be fooled by the theme park images in the video. This hotel is miles away, along very busy boulevards that are NOT pedestrian friendly. Just walking from restaurant to hotel will seem like a terrifying experience for the walker, so plan to drive or use the shuttle van.

    Back in the Days

    by

We lived in California in the mid 60s. We took a week in May and took the children (then age 4 and 2 years of age) down to Los Angeles to visit Disneyland and other attractions in the area. We also went to Knotts Berry Farm, the now defunct Marineland of the Pacific the Wax Museum, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Chinatown, the zoo and other attractions in the area.

We stayed in the Motel 6, which in those days actually cost $6.00 a night. Price was important to us as a young family on a budget.

Unique Quality: What I remember about it was the coin operated black and white TV - it took quarters. It wasn't free with the room. I'm sure that is no longer the case any more than the $6.00 charge per night. It was a basic no-frills room.

Now, they don't provide extras that might increase costs, like hair dryers, continental breakfasts, or clock radios. Free coffee is served in the morning in the lobby.

We had two double beds. I seem also to remember that the beds had a coin operated Magic Fingers bed but I may be wrong about that
