This is something I did not know was here, because in the past it wasn't...lol! I thought this would be neat to stay at and you can OHV, but to mind your manners and pay attention to the strict rules and guidelines. They have a 253 unit campground with cabins and a bunkhouse for extended visits. It is all right next to the park and many trails for you hardy OHVers.
Just remember these rules and regulations are put into place for your safety and your families. Please check out this site for rules and regulations!
Rules and Regulations for OHV
Its completely free to camp on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) property. And guess what?? There's a lot of it around Calico! There are a few full-hookup facilities in the area too.
There's something to be said for driving into the desert and camping with no one else around. Campfires are permitted. There are a few rules though such as camping 50' away from trails, try to camp in areas that have been used before, carry out all of your trash, etc.
There is a bunkhouse and a campground, but since there's nothing else for miles around, I wouldn't advise staying here unless you're unable to stay in Los Angeles or Las Vegas (which border Calico by about 2 hours either side).
