Travel Tips for Calistoga

Calistoga Mud Baths

by BrendaLehr

At Golden Haven Spa couples can enjoy the mud baths together. I actually went with a girlfriend we went there in May 2003 it was still very cold and the mud was so warm it is a great experience and one you can't imagine until you sink into the mud.

"A Castle in Wine Country"

We have watched the castle being built on our previous trips to Napa Valley. Each time we visited, a little more was completed. When I read in our local paper that it was finished, we knew we had to visit.

Cost is $25. per person for guided tour which includes wine tasting. There is also a $10. charge if you only want to taste wine and walk around on your own.

The tour was so worth it, though. Our guide (Cindy) was fun, entertaining, and informative as she took us up 4 floors and down 4 floors. The great hall is amazing and looks old although it was only built in 2006. There is a torture chamber in the basement complete with instruments of torture. Many items were brought back from trips to Europe.

The wines were good, too. They are not available on the open market and can only be purchased at the winery.

Calistoga California

by BrendaLehr

Calistoga is a wonderful place to visit. I have been there 4 times now and plan to go back soon. There is so much to do and I have not done all of it yet. You can wine taste, bike ride, visit spa, go out at night, catch a parade, enjoy a festival, shop for a unique gift and so much more. Makes me want to go right now.
