From Carlsbad to Disneyland
by rjimodg
Is there any safe and convenient form of transportation from Carlsbad to Disneyland avoiding having to drive myself?

To the best of my recollection, Amtrak does not stop in Carlsbad. The closest station is Oceanside, about 5 miles north.

You would take the the bus from your Carlsbad location to Oceanside (OSD) train station and take the "Pacific Surfliner" to Anaheim.
Yes, it's a safe way of travel.
You can check this site for the bus Trip Planner:

Despite the inconveniently place station in Oceanside, Amtrak is probably your best bet. You'll need some form of local transportation at both ends.
It is about two miles from Disneyland to the Amtrak station in Anaheim ( cabs are common ).
From Oceanside to Carlsbad, try the Coaster ( local train ), bus, or cab.

Hi HB, I think the Coaster in this case wouldn't work as well as taking the bus, which should only take about fifteen minutes to the train station.

Yes, assuming that the original poster is going to Legoland, a bus would be best. But I didn't know that for sure, so gave more generalized advice.

HB, If you were directing this to me, "Leggoland...a bus would be best. But I didn't know that for sure, so gave more generalized advice."
I'd just mention that the reason I suggested the bus as a better option, getting from Carlsbad to Oceanside, is that the Breeze (bus) runs more frequently and takes only about fifteen minutes. This makes it more convenient in getting to Oceanside without odd scheduling maneuvers trying to match the Coaster's arrival with the Surfliner's departure or having to wait for a long period of time.
Travel Tips for Carlsbad
A Meeting Place
by lmkluque
Carlsbad, the site chosen for us to meet and greet Laura, "hayward68" who came to visit from Canada. Spartan, lauriejeanne, Yubert, jenn_d, Stephanie, Gerry, oldmonk 92129 and I were the old faces in the crowd. Ed_G, Evadahling, her friend Mary and of course hayward68 were new to me.
Spartan organized the VT Meeting and chose Samba's a Brazilian Steakhouse in North County Plaza Shopping Center near the Buena Vista Lagoon. This is a favorite of locals in an out of the way spot that most visitor to Carlsbad would miss.

Yellow hydrants
by matcrazy1
Enlarge my picture to see that hydrants (for fire brigade) are yellow in Carlsbad.
As I know they are always red in Europe. Am I wrong?
Hydrant is a vertical pipe, usually at the side of the road, that is connected to the main water system of a town and from which water can be obtained esp. for dealing with fires.
One more thing: better never, ever stop your car close to them - this is palce for fire brigade truck if... hopefully never.

Does it derive from Czech?
by matcrazy1
In 1883 John A. Frazier chose to settle in this area, named it Frazier's Station, and dug a well for his water supply. Analysis of the deep (over 400 feet) well water showed it to be nearly identical to the water from the famous Sprudel Well Number 9, Karlsbad, Bohemia. Today Karlsbad is known as Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. To celebrate this fact, the name of the area was changed from Frazier's Station to Carlsbad, California.
Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary in Czech language) is the biggest spa city in Czech Republic, now. Have you ever been there?
If not go there virtually first hehe:

Hmm... aren't some houses similar in both cities?

Lagoons
by matcrazy1
Driving road S21 via Carlsbad you pass a few lagoons.
A lagoon is an area of sea/ocean water seperated from the sea/ocean by a reef (= a line of rocks and sand).
Hmm... lagoons of Carlsbad look like small lakes rather.

Food, sports and fun
by BLewJay about Danky's
A sports bar which provides a great atmosphere for watching games and eating delicious food. Can be a bit crowded during the lunch hour (and sporting events) but the service is first-rate and food top notch. I've eaten here twice...the first time I had both the Danky's in the Sun Burger (hand made 100% Certified Angus 8 oz. burger, swiss cheese, lettuce and sun dried tomatoes on a bun) with a healthy helping of fries and the second time I had the Danky's Cheddar Dip (lots of roast beef with melted cheddar cheese on a hoagie sized bun) woth au jus for dipping and healthy portion of fries.
