More about Lobos Lodge

Great place for a great price

by TripAdvisor Member samsonite

I spent one night with my mom as we traveled through Carmel. As promised by other reviews on TripAdvisor, the location (4 blocks from the beach and walking distance to great restaurants and shops) and garden courtyard were perfect. Our upstairs room was larger than I expected and very well furnished and kept. Linens were standard, but shutters on the balcony doors and windows were not only pretty but useful for privacy when leaving open for an ocean crossbreeze. The staff and breakfast service was good, although not exceptional (very sugary breakfast sweetroll and weak coffee, but complimentary and prompt). Rooms felt private and quiet, although you could hear people on stairs and flushing toilets - not surprising and not at all intrusive and bothersome. All in all, a wonderful place to stay in an otherwise very pricey town.

Very pleasant stay.

I was pleased with the politeness of the hotel clerk when making reservations and checking in. I did not realilze there were so many shops and eating places in walking distance. The location could not have been better. Free parking and delivered continental breakfast were nice amenities. I found this place on trip advisor and viewed photos. However the room exceeded my expectations. We stayed in a very spacious suite with new 25" television, plenty of sunlight and an outdoor balcony overlooking the terrace. We were later moved to a smaller room as per a previous agreement. It was also nice. Nice soaps, lotions and shampoo provided. The only downside was a couple of small tears in the linens, the mattresses in both room we stayed at were uneven and slightly uncomfortable and from the room overhead I could hear people walking. No A/C, did not need it. Windows opened. This place was exceptionally clean and very friendly, plus the location and price was excellent. I would definitely stay again, but next time on the top floor.

Pleasant Oasis

We selected this hotel on the basis of trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful, pristine, boutique shop heaven. You can hear the sound of the ocean from the hotel. The accommodation itself is beautiful, made up of small flats interspersed with tasteful gardening. There is ample parking. Staff are helpful. The room was reminiscent of a posh beach hut, with large tv and sofa and and large clean comfortable bed. The bathroom was larger than a standard hotel en suite with luxurious toileteries as a bonus. Continental breakfast was served at a booked time ( bun and coffee) so we had to head up to town to have a second course!

Would recommend this lodge if you wished to stay in Carmel - we found it was good value at $150.

Great Location

Just returned from a trip up the California coast, and while we were in Carmel we stayed one night at the Lobos Lodge. We must have had a suite, as we paid $200/night...quite a bit more than the avg $147/night listed on Trip Advisor. But it was our first time in Carmel, and all of the reviews for the Lobos sounded good, so we took it. The room was quite large witha queen bed, a pullout sofa bed and a twin bed/futon type of thing (there were three of us). The room also had a fire place, which would have been great in winter, but not much use in June. No room a/c, so we left the window open during the afternoon/evening hours to ventilate, and the very high ceilings didn't seem to allow the room to heat up too much during the night (we didn't leave the window open at night because our room was right on the corner of the main street).

The room delivered muffins (1 each...a little dry), juice and coffee is a nice touch, but you have to book a delivery time. We are somewhat late risers and by the time we checked in the latest muffin delivery was 9am.

Nice sitting area, good parking, nice bathroom and bath products.

The location...fantastic. Right on the main street for doing all of tourist store browsing. also, about a six block walk to beach, all down hill....but all up hill coming back. But there are a number of other hotels in the same general area, so it's not like this place has the best spot locked up. So many restaurants close by that you'll want to do some research to pick one.

All in all a good hotel, but maybe the Lobos Lodge should move into the 21st century? No online booking? What's up with that? And no in-room internet access...c'mon. They even charge fifty cents per LOCAL call. Surely at $200/night you can cough up a couple of local phone calls for free? Fortunately my lap top has wireless internet and the reception was good, other wise I would have been really pissed off.

Yeah, I'd recommend the Lobos, but it wasn't so great that I won't try one of the other downtown establishments the next time we go to Carmel.

PS. Set aside a few hours to go visit/hike through Point Lobos park (south of town).

Great Location, Great Value

We stayed here for one night during a trip down the California coast.

The hotel is in the perfect location in the heart of the Carmel shopping district and a five minute walk to the beach.

The room was large, well appointed and clean, and was exceptional value for money.

We stayed there for 3 nights this month, and were absolutely delighted with our accommodations in every respect. Indeed the manager (who happended to know we were celebrating our wedding anniversary) delivered us a complimentery bottle of champagne! An absolutely tremdous place. Great price too!

Quality through and through

This was a great little find, offering superb value for money. Great loaction, just off Carmels main street, also easy to find if your coming from the 17mile drive. The room was stunning, large, tastefully designed and laid out with a huge, comfortable bed and fireplace. As an extra touch a light breakfast (muffin and drinks) is delievered to your door in the morning. If your staying in Carmel this place should not be missed, would thoroughly recommend.

lovely place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member Hilaire

Based on Tripadvisor I booked this and was more than pleased with it. A lovely place to stay ;spacious light and airy and with so many excellent restaurants nearby. Service was charming and the complementary breakfast was OK.

Loved It !

by TripAdvisor Member Charlie-Jos

We stayed at Lobos Lodge as part of a trip from San Francisco to San Diego. We read the reviews in Trip and were not disappointed. This was a gem. In the heart of beautiful Carmel with easy access to the beach and Highway 1. Apartments were very nice and homely with breakfast delivered to the room at the time required. Staff were very helpful and we could not have enjoyed our stay in the area more.

Believe the reviews. . .

We stayed at the Lobos Lodge with our infant for two nights. We originally had booked for one, but expanded to a second night to spend a little extra time in Carmel.

A very nice lodge-type hotel, right on the main drag in Carmel and only four hilly blocks from the beach. The staff were friendly and accomodating.

The room was large (and we had one of the smaller rooms) and very reasonably priced for Carmel. All other hotels, which might have been a little fancier, were at least twice as much.

If you have an infant, you may want to bring a portable crib, as tehy did not have one available.

Overall, a great stay.
