Loved it!
DISCLAIMER: I stayed here for one night in 1996. I loved it then. Judging by the photos on the website, it does look as if it's been remodeled and is still wonderful. I certainly hope so because the location is wonderful!

OK for those not really into Carmel
I actually haven't stayed here, but I know exactly where it is. The location isn't too bad if you want easy access to the restaurants and shops of downtown, but don't expect sweeping views of the ocean from your hotel because as the name states this is a "bay view" hotel. The usual advantage of plenty of room and a swimming pool do make this place more ideal of larger groups who need several rooms and plenty of living space. However, prices here are not necessarily cheaper than elsewhere in very expensive Carmel.
Unique Quality: A REAL Carmel stay, one with seaside romance, will be in a B&B of which there are many in Carmel right on the ocean. All of Carmel is within easy walking distance, so one really doesn't need to be in the middle of downtown to appreciate shopping and restaurants. For the larger full service coastal hotel, consider Inns by the Sea, which has 7 inns within Carmel alone, plus great inns in Capitola and Santa Cruz. Better yet, try the Sandpiper Inn and numerous other Carmel Bed and Breakfast stays. These are for the most part very well kept establishments, not funky mom & pop operations one might find in lower rent districts elsewhere in the USA. Expect to pay the price in Carmel, or consider staying in Monterey or Pacific Grove.
