The only real problem with the Candle Light Inn is the ungainly room layout. The architect who designed the rooms put the bathroom across most of the back of the room, leaving it chopped up. ( The upper rooms appear to have partial ocean views - through a small window. The best view is from the bathroom. )
Add to this the clumsy placement of furniture and the room feels crowded even though it is rather large.
A minor problem is the sheets: the bottom sheet was a flat sheet and was tucked in on only three sides, so it and the mattress pad came loose during the night. They would do much better with fitted sheets.
But the price is very reasonable for Carmel. The staff was very friendly and very, very helpful. And the cookies in the office were very good.
Overall, we might go back next time we are in Carmel. It will depend on budget and cholesterol levels.
