Accomodation

by GUYON

We wish to go back in Carmel we visited quickly 4 years ago.

Could you advice us a hotel located in the city of Carmel by the Sea which is both comfortable and affordable ?

We search especially in Carmel and not in Monterey we foresee to visit from Carmel.

Thanks
RAY

I can recommend the Highlands Inn in the city of Carmel. When you are in Carmel, be sure to drive south about 25 miles to Big Sur and have lunch at Nepenthe. Or better yet, stay at the Ventana Inn in Big Sur.

If you're looking to be economical, I think there are better bargains in Monterey than Carmel which is fairly pricey. I agree that you must have a meal at Nepenthe on the Coast Rd. at Big Sur!

Travel Tips for Carmel-by-the-Sea

A drive down scenic ave. in Carmel then park and take a stroll or have a picnic on Carmel Beach. It's safe, clean and beyond beautiful. It overlooks Pebble Beach Golf Course as well.Great surfing, whale watching, otter viewing abound. Its doggy heaven...no leash requred...however you have to clean up after your dog....its only fair Living here is a privilege.

Whale watching off the Monterey Peninsula

by bruingirl

During the winter months, the grey whales migrate south to Mexico to have their pups. It's a great time to go out and observe the marine life out here! In the summer, there are blue whales and various other whale species that migrate.

go SIGHTSEEING!...

go SIGHTSEEING!

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a 5-star community nestled between Big Sur and Pebble Beach Golf Course. It is also the gateway to the famous 17-Mile Drive.

And some of the FUN things you may like to do whilst you're here include:

Strolling along the beach and listening to the giant waves pound against the rocks....
Playing golf on perfectly manicured greens.
Go Horseback Riding. There's a particular excursion that I'd like to recommend and that is the 'Beach Trail Rides' (cost: US$45 per individual) where experienced guides will take riders to some of the most breathtaking spots on earth! You'd have a chance to see the rugged Pacific coastline and unparalleled views of the world-famous fairways of Cypress Point Golf Club and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Ah, so nice!
Just do nothing but Eat, Eat and EAT at the many lovely local cafes, eateries and restaurants in this quaint little town. :-)

You can also choose to attend one of the many special art gallery walks around town. Whatever it is, just chill out and enjoy your short stay in this seaside resort town. See what we chanced upon when we were out strolling that day in Carmel-by-the-Sea? Yes, this cool statue..... Cute!

Former place of beginning artists.

by Pavlik_NL

Carmel itself used to be a hip place where forming artists lived. However, living here is now-a-days so expensive that maybe only the already settled artists can have a house here. Still, some expositions witness the old days and show new painters or sculpters.
The off course still find wonderful places to get inspiration along the rocky shores. On the other hand the waters are cold and often full of weats. This is the domain of the sea-otter. A nice clever animal that opens shells with a stone while floating relaxed on the waves.

Travel light!
