Re: Em Le's for breakfast

by travelgourmet

There are many fine dining locations in Carmel. Em Le's is one of them. Although it has been a while since I visited the restaurant, Em Le's Old Carmel Restaurant is worth another visit. On Dolores, between 5th and 6th streets. There are two other restaurants on Dolores that I recommed. The Village Corner Bistro and The Tuck Box , both within a couple of blocks of each other. I will be in the area in June, Pacific Grove, Monterey, and Carmel and will try to get to Em Le's again, to let the dishes tickle my palate.

Don't miss the monkey and organ grinder

by Shaft28

My favortie thing about Fisherman Wharf in Carmel is that since I was a small boy to today you can find the organ grinder and monkey there.
Small children can walk up, give change and the monkey will perform little tricks, kiss you etc...
Seems hokey, but I love it. A definite Carmel tradition. What monkey isn't your friend?

Cypress Grove Trail at Point Lobos

by SteveOSF

The second trail that the ranger recommended was the Cypress Grove Trail. The trailhead is at the parking lot where the Information Station is located. After our stroll along the adjacent Old Veteran Trail, we proceed to make the loop along the Cypress Grove Trail. This trail penetrates a cypress grove named Allan Memorial Grove that clings to the coast. Then it wraps along the shore and around a point. At the north most portion of the point, we saw some whales out in the ocean. This loop proved a very pleasant trail and presented a nice balance of trees and water.

pay a visit to the Carmel...

by Krystynn

pay a visit to the Carmel Mission Basilica.... and see the burial place of Father Junipero Serra, the father of California missions. Did you know that the official name of the mission is Basilica of Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmel? It's being honored because of the historic importance/ significant charitable work done by the great Father Serra.

To get there, just drive straight to Rio Road, just off Highway 1.

Strange.......but true!!!!!

by bugalugs

I found this quite strange but apparently the residents of Carmel dont have house numbers or letter boxes and go to collect their post from the post office.

Also in the centre of Carmel footpaths and street lamps are also a no no, in order to retain its village charm.

When visiting Carmel you have...

by neopetsfan

When visiting Carmel you have to visit some galleries. There are a lot of Galleries with great paintings one of my favourite is a painting of Thomas Kinkade you see on this picture. I have a lot of pictures of his paintings so I will change it every now and then.
