Visiting the " Downtown "
by marinarena
OK, Cerritos is so small that it really doesn't have a downtown but the waterfalls by the Cerritos Towne Center and the civic center area is really pretty and I love to visit there area for a nice pleasurable walk. When I'm away from Cerritos, I do miss the overall tranquil feeling that the city offers. This is not to say that no disturbing things happen here but growing up here, I felt enough of a feeling of peace and security. Residents do take care and give back to their community.
Stay in a safer part of L.A.

Pretty setting !
If you want to visit the L.A. and want a local and safe experience, try Cerritos. Many reasons make Cerritos a good place to stay-
1. Central location
Cerritos is just 20 miles (30 km) away from downtown L.A and some beaches and just minutes of a drive to Orange County (northwest OC).
2. Easy access
Many freeways and important highways meet Cerritos: the 91, 605 and 5 freeways and Artesia Blvd.
3. Accomodations
The main hotel is the impressive Sheraton, near the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts.
4. City landmarks
Visit the performing arts center, library (for architectural interest) and mall (Los Cerritos Center)
5. Low crime
Cerritos is not one of those "bad" L.A. communities where it's unsafe to even walk down the street and with constant shootings and other crimes.

This is Cerrito's best kept secret. A quiet place to take a stroll and reflect.

See Charming Cerritos (not Cheerios!)

"Cerritos: a Theater Town!"
There is much to discover in a city, which just happens to be my old hometown. Who knows, with its charm, perhaps I'll come back here to stay.
The main reason to devote a page for Cerritos is to promote its spectacular theater. Many out-of-town folk have come here since the opening of the Cerritos Performing Arts Center in 1993. This is truly a world-class venue, which has hosted famous singers, orchestras, ballet companies, comedians and other artists.
For the arts lover, I suggest that you spend the day in this town before catching an evening show. Have breakfast or lunch in one of the many restuarants and cafes here, shop downtown at the Towne Center or at Los Cerritos Center (mall), stroll in one of the many parks lined with beatiful trees and then head your way to the box office!
"A park-filled town"
Here is a shot of Heritage Park, one of over a dozen pictureque parks in this relatively small town.
I reccomend coming south in Los Angeles county just to have a picinic here!
"Lovely Waters"
Lovely close-up shot of a little pond found near City Hall.
Little Cerritos has a unique beauty, though it is also "yet another" suburb of Los Angeles. My home city stands out, like a diamond out of the rough.
