If I ever get past the breakfast menu...
Although the summer temp reaches over 100 degrees, late summer Early Fall season is spectacular with its colours changing. Where ever you travel, hike, bike ride, or stand, the amazing change becomes a moving kaleidoscopic visual performance. Being a part of its beauty is enough.
Jack’s is your typical diner. Open 24 hours and offering cheap eats here you’ll find all different kinds of people from all over the city. The food is hearty and greasy… just what you expect from a diner. No surprises here. And if you’re heading out to the Sacramento airport the shuttle leaves from Jack’s parking lot . It's a greasy spoon... Typical diner food, always available and always hot.
I lived in Chico for 4 months back in 1999 where I worked as a volunteer at YWAM Chico and eventually met my ex-fiancee. Chico has a rep as a college party town - which may or may not appeal to you - but what I mostly experienced was a great small-city downtown area with some good restaurants, a nice city park, and a nice brick-building aesthetic.
Welcome to Chico, California. Known for some of the more outrageous antics of our local college crowd, Chico has many family type qualities that make it a place where many come to get an education and return to build their homes.
With one of the largest parks (within city limits) in the United States (site of the original filming of Robinhood!) you are drawn to the small town atmosphere bursting with an abundance of cultural ambience, family fun, nostalgic to modern. If you're looking for it, you'll find it in Chico, California!
