Travel Tips for Chula Vista
A LOCAL FAVORITE!
by lmkluque
Chula Vista is not a place most people think of when planning a vacation, unless they have family or friends living here, but people who live here can have a "vacation" everyday without leaving their own town. One of my favorite places in Chula Vista is the J Street Marina.
The harbor area of Chula Vista is still not completely developed, and maybe that is what makes it so nice. Off the J Street exit from I-5 going west, is a narrow strip of park, well suited for large birthday parties and every weekend that's exactly what you'll see. Beyond that are a couple of generously sized parking lots and a boat launching ramp--one of few in San Diego County. This is also a location for car conventions held occasionally to show off the pride of car clubs.
The Chula Vista Yacht Club and the Marina is next. Bob's on the Bay restaruant has closed. However, Galley at the Marina is still open and popular. There are a few shops, the RV Park and then comes Bayside Park, complete with fishing pier. Anytime, day or night I enjoy myself here.
For disabled customers
by matcrazy1
Like in all (I think) European countries they have special numerous parking places for disabled persons in front of the entrance to each supermarket.
But they offer more:
they have "electric small personal vehicles/carts" (how do you call them?) for disabled customers in some (not all) supermarkets - they had them at least in Chula Vista Wal-Mart. Do all Wal-Marts offer them?
I have NEVER seen them in Poland :-((((. Maybe soon...
What about your homecountry?
Sorry - no picture of that vehicle (in respect of someone's disability).
FROM my friend CHRIS (balfor) from Atlanta, Georgia, USA:
We normally call them electric scooters or electic carts or something along those lines.
THANK YOU Chris :-).

FOR NATURE LOVERS

Chula Vista Nature Center
This picture, taken off the web-site, shows the Nature Center building and part of the marsh area. Those who are interested in nature and conservation will enjoy this small section of the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.
Set at the west end of "E" Street is a parking lot. Parking is free, a CV Bus will pick you up, also without charge and drive you through the marshy area to the Nature Center.
There are interesting exibits, mainly geared for children, a nature trail and my favorite is a petting pool full of examples of the fish found in the area, including small sharks and a friendly stingray that can be petted.

"Supermarket security guards (is it correct name?) - hmm... are cameras enough?
or they are secret = no marked uniforms? or... there are no thefts there? hmm...
as I watched a lot of Hollywood movies they must be, am I wrong?"
FROM my friend CHRIS (balfor) from Atlanta, Georgia, USA:
Yes, we call them security guards. There are also cameras all over the place in most retail stores and stores like Walmart also have people who are dressed like regular people (no uniforms) and they walk around like they are a customer, but they are really atching other people to make sure they aren't stealling anything. And they do this because there is most certainly a lot of theft from a store like Wal-Mart.
"people walking around and giving you a leaflet. How do you call that paper
spam?"
We call them solicitors.
THANK you Chris :-).
.
Business areas
by matcrazy1
There are quite numerous business areas with large parking lots around Chula Vista - time - + $$$ - effective areas for doing shopping, fueling a car, mailing cards, fast eating etc. etc.
From LINDA (lmkluque):
Third Avenue, between "E" Street and "G" Street
is the main downtown area of Chula Vista.

A: "The Westerner was located at 7th and National City Boulevard, in National City--the city just north of Chula Vista.--It was closed in 1986 because of redevelopment plans..."
