One way of getting to and around Coronado is the 'Old Town Trolley Tours.'

There are eight stops in and around San Diego to get on and off of this Trolley--not to be mistaken for the San Diego Trolley, orange and blue lines--throughout the day for one price. The Old Town Trolley Tours will take you to the major points of interests in Coronado. Reserved in advance they also have a tour of one of the largest military complexes in the world. ***Subject to availability.

WALKING THE DOG

Finding a parking space near the steps at the beach!

Especially during the summer or on weekends it can be difficult to find a parking space near the steps leading to the beach. I always cruise around the block a few times, until a good place opens up, because walking is difficult for me.

For those of you who are able and like to walk, parking several blocks away can be interesting too.

Don't they like palm trees?

It seems that they like them a lot. There are more palm trees in Coronado than in San Diego - in private yards, around public buildings and just along streets.
Usually they look like these ones on my picture.
I wonder if they must water them in summertime?

Palm trees don’t need to be watered. Natural moisture in the air and rainfall is enough for them to grow.

The Crown Room at the Hotel...

The Crown Room at the Hotel Del Coronado has a relaxed elegance that matches that of the island itself. I've never eaten here, but I've walked through this vast and impressive space a few times and it always makes me stop and take it in for a moments before moving on.

Read Between The Lines!

This sign tells you how to get off the island, by going over the Coronado Bridge.

The bridge was built in 1969 and there was a toll of $1.00 going each way, to help pay for the building of the bridge. Within a few short years the bridge was paid off. Instead of reducing the toll, they only charged for cars going into Coronado--it was free leaving. Now there is a toll of $1.00 for cars with only one person in the car, coming into Coronado. Two or more enter without cost, and leaving is still free. Are you getting the message?

P.S. The toll has been discontinued. No charge for crossing the bridge going either way anymore.
