Bargin Hunter Alert!
Want to stay in Coronado but can't afford a two or three hundred dollar room per night? This may be a solution. El Rancho Motel is located towards the north end of Orange Avenue, and is priced at a much lower rate.
Of course, I haven't stayed at this motel, but have heard good things about it, mainly that the rooms are clean, the owner is friendly and makes every effort to ensure that her guest's stay is the best possible.
I've driven past El Rancho almost every time I've been to Coronado and like the way they've renovated the place, so thought I'd add it to my accommodation tips.
Unique Quality: Fifty years ago this was a small apartment complex which later became a motel. Recently it has been renovated and there are about five or six rooms. The small courtyard has a lush Spanish flare and though the amenities are very basic they offer air conditioning, a microwave, refrigerator and TV with VCR and DVD player.
All rooms are at ground level and wheelchair accessible. There is, in some rooms, a Jacuzzi. The motel is about five blocks from the Ferrylanding and ten or so blocks from the Hotel del and access to the beach.
