Whale Watching Season & Festival of Whales
by 807Wheaton
The season for whale watching begins Thanksgiving weekend and ends the 2nd weekend of April.
In the winter, thouands of California Gray Whales leave the Arctic Seas and follow the coast line to the warm, calm waters of Southern California and Baja. This is a 10,000 mile trip. The migration brings the majority of the Gray Whale population past Dana Point where they can easily be seen and photographed.
The picture is from the Festival information.
The Festival of Whales is usually the first two weekends of March.
Rent a Surrey at Doheny State Beach
by cnango
Located in Dana Point near the harbor is Doheny State Beach Park. In the park you will find a lot of trails to ride.Bring your own bike or rent a cruiser bike or surrey from the Doheny Snack Shack.Cruiser bikes rent for $8/hr,$18/ half day or $28/ full day. A single surrey rents for $20/hr and a double surrey (like the one pictured) rents for $30/ an hr. This is really fun to do and the scenery is beautiful as well.
Watch the locals
by janika
I had fun watching the locals rollerblade. Some people were jogging or just walking.
You see skateboarders and people on bicycles as well. Not too many locals care about the beach or the water. Some of them just come down to the beach to meet up with others, friends, etc. I've seen an old guy coming down to the beach in his old, beat up pickup truck and he just laid down on a bench with nothing but a pair of pants on.
He was laying there for hours. No sun-screen, no shade, nothing. I was kind of worried about him burning. Mind ya, he wasn't nearly as white as I was. :)
Dana Point Harbor

"Dana Point Harborgreat boyfriend..."
In early November 2005, my boyfriend surprised me with a little get away to Dana Point Harbor. We crashed in the hotel and had dinner and walked the art galleries by the beach in Laguna. It was so sweet, and watching the ocean and sky change and glow into the sunset was beautiful. Thank you Kevin!

"All camera phone photo's... sorry!"

"Kevin and Myself..."
We found a quaint little bench overlooking the water and the cliffs, and we sat there freezing for an hour, just enjoing one another... it was great!
