Travel Tips for Danville

The Danville Hotel

by Agraichen

A bit of everything can be found. There's a breakfast/lunch cafe, a gormet wine shop, a great Mexican restaurant/club, numerous boutique shops and a fantastic Sushi Restaurant (and I don't particularly like Sushi). The Danville Hotel has significant histtory with the town. (more to come here).

In 20 years I've seen 3 restaurants and a major overhaul to make the site more "street worthy" and to draw local and tourist clientelle.

While I think the restaurant 20 years ago was the best, the current serves a very good meal and has very good service.

The Jero'l Salon & Day Spa can provide for your every need while visiting Danville. Located in "The Clock Tower" at the end of Diablo Road, it has served Danville for many years.

The address is 301 hartz Ave, Suite 101. Tel. 925-820-6044 or web www.jerolsalon.com Living here? Still a little bit of country in crazy CA.

Always carry something extra

by Agraichen

The "East Bay" can have a very high range in temperatures from morning to night. It is not uncommon to have a 20-30 degree shift. So a coat in the morning will give way to shorts and a T-shirt in the afternoon. Watch the time of year. Normally April - October you can wear shorts during the day and only light coverings in the evening. My car is never however without a "wind breaker" just in case of a "cold snap" (lol...nothing like the NE thought). Depending on how wet the spring is there may be mosquitos but not many. ALWAYS carry a camera. Especially in this area if you like cars. You will most likely see as many exotics as you would expect in Hollywood or Monaco/Nice during Festival. Mt. Diablo offers some great camping areas. Much cooler due to the 1000-2000 greater elevation, summer still offers great weather.

On a clear day...

...climb, bike, or drive to the the top of Mt. Diablo. Only 3849 ft high but due to the geographic location and the topology of the surrounding areas you can see more land mass from the top than practically anywhere else in the US.

If the air is right you can see hundereds of miles in all directions.

Historic Bar

Elliot's is one of the oldest sites in Danville. Originally opened in 1907, it's been a favorite watering hole for the town ever since.

You will find "all walks of life" at Elliots and everyone is an equal. Egos are left at the door.
