Travel Tips for Duarte
Hit the Trail
by Goner
Across the street from where I live is a two-mile-long recreational trail which ends at a lovely park with playground equipment, several tennis courts, picnic areas and a field for soccer or football.
The trail runs along the old streetcar line. The people of Duarte made good use of it and it's now a favorite meeting place since we don't have a downtown. The trail is a good 4-mile round-trip walk. Horses have their own dirt trail and there is an asphalt trail for bikes, for skateboards, for running or for walking. Most of the year there are flowers and trees in bloom. You might see a 5 or 6-year old kid learning to ride his bike, an assortment of dogs being walked, or nuns speed walking with their habits billowing behind them. Everyone is friendly and usually says "hello" .
The California Ranchos
by Goner
Long before Duarte's citrus groves blossomed on the foothill slopes, the first settler, Andres Duarte, introduced cattle ranching to our lands thus beginning our first commercial enterprise and of course the town's name Duarte.
Teen Center
by Goner
Duarte takes an active roll in providing facilities for our youth and two years ago this teen center was built. It's available for after-school hours and on weekends. Its adjacent to a soccer/football field which seems to be in constant use. Sorry to say we just had our first "gang" activity in Duarte. Not due to the pro-active police department and caring citizens.
Duarte's Historical Museum
by Goner
Duarte is proud of its history and there is a little museum that shows the development of the town and the surrounding areas.

To me Duarte is home and has been for over 13 years. I miss the mountains views when I'm away. Traveling is my favorite thing, the other is coming home to sleep in my own bed.
We do have a Golf Course
by Goner
Rancho Duarte Golf Course is a nine-hole course. I don't play golf so don't know how the course is rated.
