More about Victorian Inn In Ferndale
This past weekend, my college daughter and I had the rare opportunity to take a girls roadtrip - headed to Sonoma for wine tasting and then up to Ferndale, CA to enjoy the northcoast and redwoods before the summer crowds arrive. Have always used TripAdvisor with great success and they didn't let us down this time either.
The Inn was an absolute delight! From the moment we crossed the Ferndale Bridge into town - close to 7p and the only car on the road - we new we were in for a treat as we slide through the quiet of this small oasis, rounded the curve and caught site of the Victorian Inn.
The Innkeepers, Lowell Daniels and Jenny Oaks, have paid great care in attention to the details and any questions and or needs a guest might have. We had the Barnaby Room (all blue with white trim) - PERFECT - large bathroom (great for 2 women in need of elbow room), plenty of closet space, airy & light with high ceilings, windows that open to enjoy the fresh cool air, very comfortable queen bed, cozy and nice not-to-heavy bedding, quilts etc.
Such a lovely building - roomy hallways, long staircase - wonderful and delicious breakfast with yogurt, granola, juices, great coffee & teas, bagels & cream cheese and egg, sausage and green chili fritata.
LOVE that phones are party lines - TV in room is by request and you let yourself in by key after 8P. Want to get lost for a time - reacquaint yourself with the art of quiet conversation - enjoy a slow walk down mainstreet - taste a piece of homemade candy - drive past the beautiful jersey cows in the open greenfields - take in the warm, gracious hospitality - all just moments from the 101 freeway? You've found it all in Ferndale with Jenny and Lowell and the Victorian Inn in Ferndale. Absolute bliss.
Great little place to stay.
Victorian Inn, Ferndale California. May 12 2007.
I had one of the nicest stays on the coast. I'm not a big fan of B&Bs and Inns but this was the exception. The town itself is a historic site, very laid back, and no Starbucks. The owners are caring and knowledgeable of the area. There are some great shops in town and also at the inn is a pretty good restaurant, Curleys and a bar. Other than that, it's slim pickings for dining. Their complimentary breakfasts are very good as well. At the time there was no televison in my room but that was ok. There was a C.D. player however. I stayed in Jessica's Haven room which is good for a single person, very cozy. I highly recommend a drive up north, skipping Eureka and stopping in Trinidad (Seacapes) for lunch. The scenery will take your breath away.
The Victorian Inn was very elegant and nice. We chose Sylvia’s room (they are all named with photos on their website) which was small and did not have a view (and was less expensive) but was well appointed and did have a large modern bathroom. The extensive Breakfast Buffet included eggs & sausage, freshly made waffles, breads, cereals, yogurt and fruit.
Ferndale is a pretty town with a lot of Victorian style buildings. Not a lot of nighttime activity going on.
Festivities, Family & Fun at Ferndale's Victorian Inn
We loved the Victorian Inn! We were getting married in northern California and decided to stay at the Inn so that our families , who flew in from the west coast, could stay with us!
My husband's family and mine loved spending "quality" time together during our 3 night stay. We loved how the owners really accomodated us, our families enjoyed spending afterhours in the common room, talking into the wee hours, and they especially loved the wine and cheese served by the fireplace in the afternoons! The Victorian Inn is a beautiful inn and we felt like royalty during our stay. The town of Ferndale is timeless, it felt like we were walking into a different time and place. We will be returning for anniversaries to come!
A wonderful place
This charming bed and breakfast is in the Victorian village of Ferndale, near the Redwoods in Northern California. The rooms all have high ceilings, very nice renovated bathrooms, and come with a fantastic breakfast with fresh waffles for the guests. The couple who own the hotel are friendly and we had a terrific time there. The town was built up in the mid to late 1800s and remains largely intact. Quite a wonder. An extremely relaxing place to visit. I highly recommend this hotel and the town of Ferndale.
After reading a number of very favorable reviews about the Victorian Inn I decided to book a room for two nights in the Inn to enjoy the town and visit the Redwoods. The room we stayed in was large and well decorated. I really liked it till bedtime. The walls between our bedroom and the ones next to us were so flimsy that we could hear everything: snoring, talking, babies crying. I do not know about the other bedrooms but for the price we paid I would not recommend room #202 unless the rooms next to it were to be empty. We mentioned our disconfort to the front desk the morning of our departure and the only responce was "O.K." not even an apology. My impression was that they are aware of the issue and would rather avoid the topic.
wonderful place to stay
We loved the Victorian Inn. The room was lovely. The Inn was historic and very interesting. Breakfast was great. The restaurant in the Inn was very good. The owners were so wonderful to us. We especially enjoyed the wine and cheese each evening. Would highly recommend and would stay here again.
Stepping Back In Time
We stayed at the Victorian Inn for one night and we had a wonderful stay.
After a LONG days driving from Eugene Oregon, driving into Ferndale was like stepping into the pages of a history book. The town is so quaint and very relaxed.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly man on the reception who was very imformative, and told us everything we needed to know about the hotel, and the town. My only gripe is, he didnt offer help with our luggage and there is no lift in the hotel as you'd expect.
Our room was the Emily Rose Room and although small, was perfect in every other way. The Victorian Inn is spotless, the bed was comfortable and the water was warm.
We had a meal in the restaurant within the hotel and it was one of the best meals we had during our whole holiday.
If you like anyting historic, the Victorain Inn and indeed the town of Ferndale, are well worth a visit. If you are looking for a room with a TV, bar and clubs etc etc, this is not the place for you.
Wonderful family trip
We stayed with our girls at this lovely Bed and Breakfast!!! It was wonderfully decorated and the room was huge!!! The owner woke up early in the morning to cook the guests breakfast so that we did not have to get dressed and go down to the restaurant. It was a great location to everything in town and close to the beach!!! It was a very relaxing place to stay ,we shall return!!!
Really enjoyed are time there - beautiful inn wonderfully restored and the hosts couldn't have been more cordial and thoughtful. They inn provided the right balance between privacy and friendliness, creating a very relaxing and wonderful stay. Ferndale lives up to its picturesque reputation and the surrounding area provides some of the most beautiful redwoods in all of California and a great place to just shift gears and relax!
