Back in California ....
"Yosemite"
We entered Yosemite from hwy 120, having driven the 250 miles from Ely, Nevada. It was already well past mid-day and we knew it was a long drive through to the Valley and then out of the South exit to our hotel. The views on the 60 mile Tioga Road were impressive, but we only stopped at a few overlooks in our haste to get to the Valley. We got glimpses of El Capitan as we got nearer, but decided to save the best for the next day.
We did stop and look back from tunnel view ... takes your breath away.
Next stop was Mariposa Grove where we hiked up to the Grizzly Giant, one of the world's largest trees. Many of the other Sequoias were almost as impressive. Out of the park we drove the short distance to our hotel, the Apple Tree Inn, where we were booked in for two nights.
Drove to Oakhurst for evening meal at the Ol' Kettle Restaurant.
