Lytle Creek is north of downtown Fontana if you follow
Sierra Avenue north toward the mountains. There are limit-
ed camping areas in the canyon, and some pretty spots
for picnics and hiking, and listening to the relaxing
sounds of water running over the river rocks...mmmmmm.
Jurupa Hills are south, and provide many mountain biking trails for bike clubs and individuals year-round. Within these hills lies the Mary Vagle Nature Center, where the
visitors can feed the ducks, take a day hike into the surrounding hills, where a tiny creek trickles under a bridge near the summit...(watch out for the rattlesnakes) or take a leisurely stroll to an historical ruin which used to be a chapel at one time. It's located just south of Jurupa Street on Cypress Avenue. And, within less than a
quarter mile, Jurupa Hills Regional Park has a waterslide which is open in the summer, and picnic areas with BBQ's available year round for picnic activities.
