Glass Beach
by einstein47
There is a place called Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. It is also a great place to pick up any abalone shells you may find (they are usually hidden in the smallest of tidepools). Scattered all over the beach are pebbles made out of glass. What we heard was that a bottling company burned down and sprayed bits of glass all over the beach. It eventually landed in the water and washed up in the form of pebbles that were immediately cooled down.

For spring break my husband and I took a drive up to Fort Bragg to spend a few days. What a beautiful place on the Northern Coast it is too. We stayed at The Lodge at Noyo River in a beautiful room with a claw foot bathtub for two and skylights. Even got serenaded by sealions at night! The view was great from our Carriage House room with tons of privacy too.

We had a wonderful time exploring Glass Beach which in reality is an old dump with glass polished like jewels. Interesting bits of old cars and people's shoes too! We asked our innkeeper where Glass Beach was and she said "go to Denny's and make a left".
So now YOU know too :-)

The most beautiful part of our trip...a short walk to the beach and gorgeous flowers along the way. Some of the most beautiful and unusual Rhododendrons I have ever seen are here. Don't miss out on a visit here, it is indeed the rare jewel that the website says it is.
