 We were appalled by the service of the Econo Lodge at Gilroy and we regretted staying at the hotel. The front desk staff refused to honor at the rate we booked and charged us at a higher rate. When we disputed about it, he told us - quote " you can take it or go somewhere else". The reason given by them was that because we arrived to check in at 5pm (check-in time 3pm) but the hotel staff had already wanted to charge the room without success to our credit card at 4pm, it happened that the credit card we used to book the hotel had exceeded the limit while we were spending on our trip over the last two days, we then just got to realise this and was prepared to use another credit card to pay for the room, but the hotel refused to keep our booking and told us he had cancelled it and now we had to pay a new rate. We tried to explain we can pay by another credit card and asked to make an exception, but the staff refused to listen and threatened to raise the rate even higher if we continue to disagree. Being a tourist in a new town and it was getting late into the evening, we had no choice but to accept it. After we checked in, the hotel staff moved us from room to room, from ground floor to upper floor and eventually we had to settled in the 3rd room they decided to allocate. After this experience, we felt that this is definitely not our choice hotel and it shouldn't has been called one in the first place. It will be the last time we stayed in an Econo Lodge - I urged to Management of Choice Hotel to look into this if they care about their customer service at all before more guests have to go through what we went through to be the worst experience of our whole journey in US. All other hotels we stayed such as Comfort Inn provided services beyond expectations and was able to accept payment by a different credit card at the rate we booked. We had a great experience staying in Comfort Inn at Yosemite and I recommend them to all.
