When we went to the Grant Grove Cabins one was able to rent a rustic cabin (no lights, heat, ensuite bathroom) for $29.00 per night in the middle of winter. Now the Rustic cabins have been outfitted with electricity, propane heaters and are carpeted. They share a common bath house.
Due to OSHA laws one can no longer rent these rustic beauties in the winter time only Spring and Fall. Gone are the woodstoves that used to heat the cabins, they have been relagated to outside of the cabins.
The only cabins that you can rent year round is the Single or Duplex Bath Cabins. These have everything the Rustic cabins do but they all have ensuite bathrooms. They cost $115/125 per night
Despite the facts that times are changing it is still worthwhile to rent one of these cabins. You will be in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of California in the Kings Canyon National Park, home of the giant sequoia trees. These trees are hundreds and a few are a couple of thousand years old.
