More about Old Thyme Inn
A Delightful Visit!
by TripAdvisor Member Swedepie
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay on the night of June 28 in The Mint Room. Reading in the garden, soaking in the claw foot tub and enjoying the room's fireplace were just some of the positives of this Inn. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, the Inn was well kept and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The location is within walking distance to town (north) and the excellent restaurant, Cetrella (south). Built in 1898, the Old Thyme Inn has floors that creak and all the other charming attributes of a beautiful, mature home with character. We are already planning our return visit.
We Had A Wonderful Time

We loved the Old Thyme Inn. The hospitality, food, and the surroundings were excellent. Our room was charming and very well appointed; the breakfast was hearty and served with flair; the garden and ammenities at the Inn were lovely. We had a great and very relaxing weekend. Half Moon Bay was an undiscovered treasure for us.
What a Lovely B&B

What a lovely property! The rooms, common areas, and gardens at this beautiful property are so beautiful. Sitting in the garden relaxing before going out to dinner, we were surrounded by beautiful flowers and hummingbirds bathing in the waterfall on the wall of the fence. Our host was so accommodating, we didn't want for anything.
We were pleasantly suprised in the morning when Rick served us coffee, tea, fruit, fresh homemade muffins and a hot breakfast. We sat at the dining room table and had the pleasure of meeting new people who were also staying at the Old Thyme Inn who were enjoying their stay as much as we did.
When we return to Half Moon Bay, we will definitely stay at the Old Thyme Inn again.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary
at the Old Thyme Inn. We had such a wonderful time.
We reserved the "Garden Room" overlooking an adorable
"Herb Garden". Every morning the Innkeepers served us
breakfast in our room, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The Service and the Food was great, and the Garden Room
is very Romantic.
If you visit "Half Moon Bay", please stay at the "Old Thyme Inn".
Rick and Kathy are wonderful Innkeepers.
Sincerely,
Joe and Franchelle
Old Thyme Inn - Lucky Find

We wanted somewhere nice and quiet to stay for our first night in San Francisco outside of the busy city area, before we headed on down the coastal road, and found The Old Thyme Inn from an internet search for B&B's in the Half Moon Bay Area. We were made very welcome by Rick when we arrived and he showed us where everything was and had lots of information about the local area, best places to eat etc. We had a choice of what time we would like to eat breakfast and shared the table with 2 other couples the following morning. Breakfast was very good and consisted of a lovely thick fruit smoothie, pumpkin muffins, a cheese and herb omlette which was served with bacon, toast and coffee. We stayed in the Mint Room which overlooks the front of the property and has an old claw tub bath with shower. Shampoo, conditioner and a wonderful smelling rosemary body lotion were provided and a hairdryer, everything you could need. We found the Old Thyme Inn was just what we needed for a relaxing night after our 11 hour flight from the UK.
Discriminates against families

Our experience here was a sour one and we don't plan to return...nor would we recommend the place. My husband and I wanted to so something special for our anniversary but we needed to take our baby along.
When we booked our room over the phone, we informed them that we had a baby coming too but we were given no objection. When we arrived, we requested a crib for him. The lady made a big deal about the baby being there. So I told her that we would leave. She then stated that she would have to charge us anyway since the room had been taken off the market. I don't think so! She was the one who failed to mention that families were an inconvenience to her inn at the time of booking.
She placed us in room downstairs at the agreement of another couple swapping rooms from the one we had initially reserved which was upstairs. Upon showing us the room she stressed that the linens were expensive and she didn't want to baby soiling them.
She suggested that he sleep on the ground!
Needless to say, our baby slept in the bed (without soiling anything). Our stay was an uncomfortable one in which we were inconvenienced and made to feel like an inconvenience. At $281 a night, we should have stayed home and gone out to a nice dinner instead.
A Scrumptious Stay at the Inn
by TripAdvisor Member EagleandaCrow
To celebrate our 7th wedding Anneversary we chose to stay at the Old Thyme Inn's Mint Room. IT was a lovely refreshing room tastefully dedcorated. We really enjoyed the seperate bathroom with a claw foot tub. Our four posterd bed had soft scrumptious bedding that allowed us to sleep very comfortably. In our room was a nice time controlled gas fireplace that flickerd and warmed the room and that ofset the misty foggy outdoors. Our Host Inn Keeper was very helpful to find restauants and special events in town. The Breakfast each day was delicious. They gave special attention to our dietary restricitons. It was a lovely restful and scrumptious stay and we would love to return another time.
Old Thyme Inn--A Peaceful Place

I had the pleasure of staying at the Old Thyme Inn in Half Moon Bay for 4 nights in late November. What I was looking for was a nice quiet place to have a personal retreat, and that's exactly what I found. The room I stayed in was very clean, attractive, and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. The overall atmosphere was homey and welcoming. The hosts offered a good balance of friendliness and respect for a guest's desire for privacy. The inn is located within a short walk from the main downtown area, so that made browsing in the local shops and going to restaurants easy. Getting to the Coastside Trail involved a longer walk (about 1 mile or less), but it was still very doable and definitely worth the effort. With reasonable rates and all the good things mentioned above, I would highly recommend the Old Thyme Inn.
Great stay, wonderful hosts, super food. Thanks for the memories!

Wow, we really had a good time. Rick met us at check in and was so helpful with suggestions on places to eat and things to do (His trained speaking voice was really nice to listen to as well). We stayed in the Lavendar room, which has a detatched bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and my wife and I each loved the really long bathtub, which was great for soaking after an exhausting day of exploring all that the area had to offer. Every breakfast that we were served was very good. We really felt relaxed after our stay at the Old Thyme. We also had a wonderful time chatting with the other guests during the wine and cheese each afternoon. It was a trip we will always remember. Whenever we are able to make another trip to that area, we will most certainly stay there again.
Can't wait to return!

This place was wonderful! First of all, the feather beds were decadent and I felt like I was sleeping in a giant cloud. They were very comforting after a long flight. The B&B itself was very beautiful and comfortable, and the garden in the back was lovley, even a few blooms in December. The hosts were very personable and helpful, and I really liked that they had a collection of movies that you could take to your room at night. Our first breakfast was too heavy on the sugars (bread, fruit, syrup, sugars, and juice), but the second breakfast was a delicious huevos rancheros with black beans. Everything in the room was very clean, and I really liked the salts and soaps that they provide.
Also, there are eucalyptus trees around this area that smell fantastic. I really enjoyed our stay there, and would love to visit again.
