Surf City hostel has the location nailed for those traveling on a budget in California.
It's superior to pretty much every hostel in LA, purely because of it's location. Just metres away from the beautiful Hermosa Beach.
Other things going for it are, the location. Hermosa is a stunning seaside 'city'. It's safe to go out at night without being hassled or suffer panhandling.
With regards to the hostel.
It has a pretty laid back, chilled, vibe.
It's relatively clean, quite well priced, and the rooms aren't too crammed.
For those looking for a night out, the Hermosa bars are a stones throw away, most without a cover charge.
Pros: Location, right on the beach.
Cons: Some rooms look tired, Poor management (Double booking happens regularly during the summer months)
