The Roosevelt
The Roosevelt is a storied Hollywood Boulevard Hotel with a great location and awesome waitstaff. If you're staying here you must be into the frills of Hollywood- if you're not into any of this, then book elsewhere, because most of the price is in the glitz and history. I'd like to say I'd stay here again, but, next time I'm trying a newer hotel, perhaps Reniassance across from the Highlands center. This hotel does run specials, so if you do come across an afforable nights stay (<$150/night) and are local to Hollywood, try it out!
Unique Quality: The Tropicana Bar was nice but I was here in the winter, poolside wasn't that great. The Roosevelts uniqueness is in its history, I've heard there is an AMAZING Penthouse where some famous film celebrities have stayed.
UPDATE
So in March 2012, I got to stay in a storied suite that a famous celeb spent quite some time in- best upgrade EVER!!!!

Worth paying a little more!!!
We stayed here for a few days during Christmas, and had a great experience. The hotel is completely renovated and modern, with a huge lobby, great restaurants, legendary pool, Tropicana bar, modern fitness center, and the customer service we experienced was very friendly and helpful from the time we got there to the time we checked out. We booked through Expedia and got discount rooms for under $200. Room was very roomy (king size bed and 2 showers) and modern with a view of Hollywood Blvd and the famous Hollywood sign. You walk out the front of this hotel, and you're right on the Walk of Fame, and 50 ft from Chinese Grauman Theater. Great location for all the touristy attractions. Coffee bean and Tea leaf , right across the street and In N Out burger is about 2 blocks away. The hotel also gave me a free car wash before I left too. 2 thumbs up!

Fab!
Amazing place. Huge rooms, very safe and clean and in an excellent location! Staff very friendly and attentive. Would certainly recommend it to anyone and would go there again.

A: "This is an "OK" location, but not great. It is in North Hollywood, not Hollywood so you will need to either take the metro to drive to visit the "Strip". It looks like..."
