Days Inn: Rundown Motel in Adelanto

by Basaic

The Days Inn in Adelanto is listed as the only motel in town. I was tired as I drove north on US Highway 395 into town. As I later learned there are two parts to Adelanto, the older part in the south and a newer better looking area in the north. This motel is older and in bad need of some upgrades and better maintenance. The room was pretty clean; but rundown. The staff was not that friendly and the breakfast substandard. I would not stay here again, and cannot recommend it. Too expensive for what you get (about $70).

California Inn: Stop over in Blyth

by davesut

Driving along the monotonous I-90, the time came to stop and the place was Blythe. Blythe had a number of motels to choose from on the main road, Hobson Way West or East. Far from Hobson's choice we had a lot to choose from and opted for the former Hampton Inn which was great. A spacious room with two Queen's and complementary extended continental breakfast which included some hot food, sausage, omelet, waffles. $90 incl tax is more expensive than most but a relaxing stop over all the same. There is a small pool at the back open from 7am and it would have been plenty warm enough for a dip at 7am in July.

This former Hampton Inn appeared to be changing its name to California Inn whilst we were there, see the blacked out name badge on photo 2

BeeTed commented,"This was a large room for the price with fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The Queen beds were plenty large enough and lots of pillows here unlike other places we could mention."

Palm Canyon Resort: R & R in Palm Springs

by davesut

Read reviews on Trip Adviser and you will fear the worst about this place but we need not have worried. A fab stay. We took a two room suite, there are smaller and larger, plenty of space, separate fully equipped kitchen. Good size bathroom with sink, another separate sink area for my make up, two TVs, balcony.

Pool was the main reason for picking this place and it was very good although expect it busy during the middle of the day.

Snacks available at pool side bar from 8am to 10 pm, incl breakfast sandwiches and pancakes, salads, fries, burgers. Anything more you have to travel out.

A car is essential here as it's on the edge of the city.

Downsides - the only thing was the pool got busy which stops it getting 5 stars. It was great at 9am and plenty warm enough.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant for us. There are a number of activities organised each week, sports tournaments indoors, adult swim early morning, movie nights evening.

If you get an option, do not choose a pool side room as this would be more noisy, roadside view is quieter and the road not busy.

travelodge, san luis obispo: half way point to pch/hwy 1 drivers

Carmel Resort Inn: Affordable Hotel in Carmel

by lisabel.smith

We stayed at Carmel Resort Inn. I would admit that we had a fantastic experience in this bed and breakfast / inn / hotel. Not very expensive, it fit our budget.

The staff was very courteous. Rooms were clean. Moreover, they did not charge us for late checkout.

I would recommend this hotel who is on budget, and want to have a great vacation in carmel.

Carmel Resort Inn folks, keep up the good job. We'll see you again in spring.

Clean Rooms, Courteous Staff, affordable, close to everything.

Suprise valley HotSprings: 5 star suite, -4 star staff

by deeflowerz

The warner View suite is a beautiful, well appointed, 1000 sq ft suite with a full kitchen stocked with cooking equipment, seating for 14 diners, a large living room, 2 baths 2 bedrooms with a laundry room and the best matress ever, a memory foam. There are 3 televisions and a hot tub in the suite. The negative attitude of the staff ruined this absolutly wonderful stay and beautiful area to visit. I would never return to this resort even though what we paid for this suite was absolutely worth it's value, because staff is rude, condescending, arrogant, cavalier, and insulting. Housekeeping was very poor and only available between 9 and noon. The maintenance person did his job. Unsupervised resident kids on site terrorized the baby birds and ran amuck the entire time we were there.

Beautiful High desert views, quiet, natural hot springs.

how to stay in yosemite w/o staying there: hostel in groveland, ca.

by rkearns

there is a town called groveland about 1/2 hour outside yosemite's entry. it has a hostel. they also have the groveland hotel. the hostel is just on the left right as you enter town.
here's the map of groveland:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=18680+Main+Street+Groveland,+CA+95321&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=18680+Main+St,+Groveland-Big+Oak+Flat,+CA+95321&gl=us&ei=YJTGS5mpDo_YsQOH8JS5DQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAgQ8gEwAA

also, if you're in between san francisco and los angeles, you won't have a problem getting a room anywhere off hwy 101. it should run you around $45 a night in a motel 6.

there are tons of other cheap motels on main drags of small towns. you don't have to stay in the big cities.

Housekeeping Camp: Great place to spend a couple of nights

by Worldtraveler

Kate's right. If you want to stay in Yosemite (or nearby) you should have made your reservation 100 days before yesterday. It gets very crowded there in the summer. There are nice camping areas in YP that have cabins (no need to bring your own).
There's no need to make reservations when visiting the cities... sometimes you can find an even better last minute price!

Outdoor grill and firepits available in every cabin, double beds, bunks, electrical outlets abd lights. Very cozy for a campground!

Palace Hotel: A teeny bit old-school

by travelintraina

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business conference. The service is what makes this hotel shine. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful dining room area just in front of the lobby. Even with modern conveniences the hotel brings in people that bring you back to the time where hotels were places to be seen, eat, and relax during the day.

Holiday Inn Express: Very Nice Motel in Tehachapi

by Basaic

Holiday Inn Express is a step up from most chain hotels and this one was no exception. The room was very comfortable, the hot breakfast very tasty, and all the ammenities were great. The girl behind the desk was very cute; but did not want me to post her picture here (at least I still got one).

There is a Denny's within easy walking distance.
