Colonial Inn: The hostel you love or hate
Well, the truth is. First I was a bit sceptic to this hostel. But after staying there few nights, I decided to stay longer. It was awesome! I will definitely go back if I get a chance.
I stayed there more than a week, the week price is 130 $ which is very reasonable. Rooms are nice, for 3-5 persons and the walk distance from beach. The hostel itself is not in excellent condition, beds are a bit, eh, old. I fell down from my 'so-called'matress' every night, but anyway I loved to stay in this place. The atmospehere is amazing, staff is fun and patio plus back yard awe! Plus you can rent a bike or board and everything is very easy accessible. Simple said, I wanna go back.
The location is nicem you walk to main street in few minutes, so you do to beach too. Houses around the hostel are great, the neighborhood is luxury.
Definitely very safe hostel and overall great place.

Colonial Inn Hostel: Cheap Sleep
I didn't stay here but I met VT member Scandic here and the place looked clean, the people were friendly.
Excellent location, in a nice and safe neighborhood. Within easy walking distance to the beach and pier.

Best Western: Nice Hotel
This is really in Newport Beach south of the Santa Ana River on Coast Hwy. No beach view but across the street from the beach. Standard rooms
For the location not a bad place to stay across from the beach but no beach view since houses face the beach.

any motel: Motels
Well there are some small older motels on PCH with kids waiting for there parents to die so they can sell the property for millions. The last I remember was a strawberry field and the day the father died the kids sold to Disney for 50 million. So you can head up Beach Blvd and the further you get from the beach the cheaper it will be.Watch out for Anaheim they have a very high room tax. Also when you get closer to Disneyland it will start getting higher again. Huntington Beach is a smaller city in Orange County so from the beach to say Disneyland is about 30 minutes. So if you looked in Costa Mesa Fountain Valley Garden Grove they would be about in the middle of the two and be alot cheaper than a beach city or Disneyland area.
