"Searching through town...."
When we arrived we drove up and down the street in which our hotel was. We couldn't find anything special to eat what we liked. There where a lot of mexican food places but that was it.
Little did we know that if we had drove back a little and went towards the mountains there was a lot more to Indio then we knew at that moment.
Indio - the town that wealth forgot.

I was staying in Indio so I could compete in a triathlon. Thehotel was oaky - Best Western Date Palm - but the town was a depressing affair. It lies along highway 111 and at the end of the chain of desert resort towns that are usually considered to be "Palm Springs". It was sad to see the old Shields Date Farm up for sale, probably to make was for yet another suburban sprawl tract of the ilk that is ruining the Palm Springs area. They say that Indio is the city of festivals and I've heard that the Date Festival is pretty cool. Nevertheless, if you just need a cheaper place to crash use the Best Western (clean and friendly). Otherwise spend your time elsewhere.

This pictures was taken at around 8am. It was already about 82 degrees.
The kids playing in the recreation room. Here you will also find a huge lounge and a workout room, and an arcade room. The rec room has a few pool tables, ping pong tables, fooze ball, air hockey and much more.
Outside the rec room we found basketball courts and tennis courts.
Koa is here at one of the kiddie pools.
