Wikiup B&B: Got Llamas?

My husband booked us Rose's Secret room here for a romantic getaway weekend. Our room was comfortable and had a funky wooden barrel hot tub out on our private deck. We heard strange noises at night and the some pictures fell off the wall. I think it was haunted! The main area had kitty cats in it. There were llamas outside in a corral. Breakfast was cooked fresh, it was huge and delicious.

I'd have to say the llamas were unique.

Tucker Peak Lodge: A bit out of town

Four of us girlfriends had booked the large room for one night. Luckily there was no two night minimum here, yet... After checking in to the store/office in town, we drove a couple of three miles out of town, passing turkeys on the way and arrived at a steep driveway leading up to the house.
The room we stayed in, room #1 was very Victorian with matching bedspread, pillow shams, tablecloths, curtains...you get the idea. The room was large with it's own bathroom and fireplace. The shower was strong and hot and felt great! One of my friends had cancelled which was a good thing because the day bed which was supposed to accomodate two of us was only big enough to hold one comfortably. Access to the room was up a steep stairway, the room was over the garage. It was clean and comfortable.
We drank our wine out of the dixie cups that were provided in the room (wine shooters we called them!). We were awakened in the morning by the sound of wood peckers on the eaves pecking away.
We patiently waited until 8am when we could head to the main room where the coffee and continental breakfast could be found. The staff was friendly and talkative and we met Tucker the dog who I guess the lodge was named after. The owners did not actually live at the B&B, but someone was on site in a motor home parked next to the driveway area.
We had our coffee out on the large deck in the sunshine although you could eat in the fabulously decorated kitchen area.

Many of my friends own B&B's...

Many of my friends own B&B's and the overall quality is excellent. Depending on your taste, there are plenty of great choices to meet your needs. A good place to start is with the Julian B&B Guild.
$95-$180, depending on amenities and location.

While swimming pools and fitness facilities aren't a likely option, romantic fireside retreats with great views rule the day here, whirlpool tubs are also quite common...
