See a bit of the Romanian in La Habra!

Seeing the Unexpected in My Own Town!
La Habra is a commmunity of various ethnicities, which apparently has a number of Romanian-Americans (of different generations). Pictured here is a Romanian church with quite an impressive architecture.

The town has a small town mind at times.
La Habra has some history from the Spanish trails days and I am working on putting it together for this page..
Check back later for the full story I lived in La Habra many years ago when I first started to work for Hughes Aircraft Company and everyone knew each other.
Get Cheap(er) Gas in L.H.!
by marinarena
If you are drifting from the freeways and happen to be in the area, you'll be in luck! La Habra tends to have less expensive gas than in other cities, about $ 0.05- 0.30 cents less than the L.A. average ! So, if La Habra can be known for something locally, it can be deemed the "cheap gas" city of Orange county! I know, it's a silly thing really but given the car culture of the greater Los Angeles area, it is worth noting ! We take our cars and gas very seriously here! This Hummer definitely needs to get gas in La Habra!
Note: The cheapest gas station is usually Arco, one can be found near the intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Lambert Rd. (near the Home Depot). Arco does not have the best fuel for some cars to run on but it usually does just fine for basic automobiles.
Unique and Cheap at the La Habra Ranch Market
by marinarena
Here is a morning ritual of sorts in La Habra. Locals flock to the neighborhood ranch market featuring the best deal on the basic produce items and more. Lettuce is usually 50 cents a head , apples 50 cents a pound and mushrooms just over one dollar !
There are many imported little treats like cheeses from Bulgarian, kalamata olives from Greece, pico de gallo for Mexican dishes, baklava, Middle eastern style pita breads, naan from India, plantanos and Turkish candies (with nuts).
Perhaps the greatest deals to be had here are just outside the market building. There is a garden with colorful fountains, plants, pots and a beautiful, large variety of flowers usually in bunches. Here's a good tip in time for Valentine's Day: get a dozen of roses here for a loved one. And if not roses, orchids are even better. Availability varies but the prices are just about the same - inexpensive!

Golf !
by marinarena
Westridge is a beautiful hillside public course that is definatively off the beaten path in So Cal.
There is a man-made lake and though the yardage is small, the layout is a good challenge for the intermediate and skilled players.
The signature hole is #16, a 337-yard, par 4.
Fees are $50-80 A collared shirt and bermuda shorts! No denim
