    Fantastic Views!!

    by

    I've seen this hotel go through some troubles on the Travel Channel "Hotel Impossible". After it was sold, according to the web site it has gone through some very much needed renovations. One thing for certain, the views are fantastic and it is conviently right down town and within walking distance to restaurants, stores, and the beach .

Priceline in La Jolla

by Dabs about Various

I originally was looking at Priceline for my stay in San Diego and had thought about staying in La Jolla, the Hyatt La Jolla was coming up frequently for $90 or under per night but then I started adding up all the extras-parking is extra, using the health club is extra, breakfast is extra (not unusual for American hotels) and decided to stay at the Old Town Inn where all of this was included instead. But if you're looking to stay near the beach, you might give Priceline a look, the area is San Diego Coastal and you could also end up in Mission Bay or Torrey Pines.

Upmarket place

by zquek about Hyatt Regency La Jolla

We drove in a camry....and that was embarrassing as all the other cars are BMWs and Bentleys... In any case, the staff were great. Room is large with two queen size bed. Coffee maker is execellent. Bathroom is large and well equipped. Hotel's cafe serve extremely good coffee and pastries... Don't miss the buffet breakfast.

"La Jolla In Spanish Means "The Jewel""

Surrounded by aquamarine waters and filled with art galleries,
shops and some of San Diego's best restaurants, La Jolla,
its name taken from the Spanish "la hoya," which means
"the jewel," adorns the shoreline just north of San Diego.

Restaurants include some of the most highly recommended in
San Diego such as Roppongi and Acqua Trattoria. This is a great
place for a splurge on a meal. Keep the bill down by going for lunch,
or share a couple of appetizers instead of ordering a main course.

La Jolla is a 20-minute drive from downtown San Diego via Interstate
5 north. Exit at Ardath Road west. Ardath Rd. becomes Torrey Pines Rd.
Continuing west on Torrey Pines Road, and you reach the Village when
you come to Prospect Place. Turn Right on Prospect Place to enter the
heart of town.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most visitors like us, walk along the shoreline
around Scripps Park, but for a more private walk
with places to sit and enjoy the view, take the steps
going down next to 1298 Prospect. Follow the wooden
fence beside the cave entrance, then walk along the
dirt path. You'll find few people here, but you won't be
alone. A large colony of cormorants and a seagulls
inhabit the cliff face below ......
La Jolla...California Dreaming
by butterfly_girl
Beautiful ocean, tan surfers and palm trees.
La Jolla is the place that I grew up....I have lots of memories of growing up in this beautiful community. Each time I go back to visit I realize the sheer beauty of this place, but also how expensive it is to live there. This is the place of my youth, where I was a crazy teenager, skipped school to hang out at the beach, feel in love with surfer boys and lived the california dream.
An afternoon in La Jolla
by ranger49
"Why so short a visit?"
We really would have liked more time there but our hosts would not hear of us taking the short train journey early in the day and insisted on driving us there. So we left Carlsbad at 2pm along - I think - the 101. I wanted to stop and just have time to look around, get a feel of some of the places we passed en route but - No, we must push on otherwise we would run into traffic on the way back!
So we had little more than two hours to enjoy this lovely place and still ran into Traffic" on the way back.!
Would the real La Jolla please step forward!
by rmdw
In a few weeks I'm going to be visiting a friend in La Jolla. When I went to get directions I found out that there are TWO La Jolla's in California!!!
How can there be two places with the same name in the same state?!?
When one says "I live in La Jolla" does a Californian automatically think of the one in San Diego?
If you happen to live in the one in Orange County, how do you refer to it?!
Most confused!
Park Benches
by bigshotcontractor
Where are the park benches which face North West that only the La Jolla High School kids seem to know about. They are favorite spots for smooching, smoking Pot, etc., etc., and are pretty private with spectacular views. These are 2 seperate spots. Perhaps a city park worker would know.
Best SCUBA dive sites in So. Cal
by DGPoohBear
I'm looking for advice on where to go diving in the LA or San Diego area. Where are the best sites?
Re: Best SCUBA dive sites in So. Cal
by butterfly_girl
I am not a diver, but I have seen lots of divers in the La Jolla area of San Diego. Places like La Jolla Shores beach and La Jolla Cove beach are good spots to research a little. Good luck.
My personal favorite is Shaw's Cove in Laguna Beach. There is a reef that goes straight out from the beach, so navigation is a breeze. Check the surge first, sometimes it can be pretty strong - the garibaldi go shooting past you in one direction and then back the other way, as they get tossed back and forth in the surge. Be careful about following any of the little inlets into the reef. You can get pounded by the surf if you follow one that is gradually getting shallower. Been there, done that.
Perhaps the Monterey Bay? :)
