As OC locals, we wanted a get-away weekend, so we booked the Superior Queen Room at La Casa Del Camino, which was described as a "corner room which offers a great view of the rolling coastline, these rooms offer a little more room that the deluxe, but maintain their intimate appeal."
When we got there, we had to enter through the side entrance because there was an event that day. Our promised oceanview room turned out to be a very tiny room with a small window that views the side of an adjacent building... and this was supposed to be one of the most expensive and attractive rooms available.
When we spoke to the front desk, they claimed that not all superior rooms have oceanviews. We ended up insisting on a refund because we can get a better room at a motel than the "Superior" room that was assigned to us. I would have wanted to have my wedding here, but I'm concerned about their honesty.
Casa Del Camino is located in downtown Laguna Beach, just steps from the ocean and lots of shops and restaurants. The hotel has been recently renovated and is now in great shape. All of the rooms have been updated with modern decor and linens and the Spanish-style lobby is attractive and welcoming. I stayed here a couple of years ago and the place definitely needed a little TLC. I'm happy to report that it's gotten it--- Casa Del Camino is now a lovely place to stay.
With rates ranging from $160-$200/night (on weekends-- it can be less during the week), the hotel is a perfect place to get away without breaking your bank.
Unique Quality: Casa Del Camino has a pretty rooftop garden where small weddings can be held. Or you can just go up here to watch the sun set.
The hotel also has a good restaurant, Savoury's, which features cuisine in a fusion of Mediterranean, French and Asian styles.
One of the things I like best about Casa del Camino is how warm and friendly the staff is. The people here really want you to have a great time in Laguna Beach and they're happy to help with whatever you need.
various places.
One being Studio at The Montage.
I know the distance is roughly a mile and a half. And i just seems like a shame to spend money on a cab for that short distance, if the weather is co-operative and all. I enjoy walking and would like to make that my main mode of transportation, except for times when i want to get outta town for the day.
About 30 minute walk to The Montage and also to downtown. You can take the bus if you don't want to walk.
