This hotel, once known as the "Essex Inn" is one of the most well-known in town. The regular rooms seem a bit pricey for what you get, and the restaurant is certainly nothing to write home about, but they do also have suites, and these may be better. It is certainly not a bad place to stay, however. The rooms are very large, so large that they seem almost empty. The furnishings are fine for the most part, but I've seen better TVs in an EconoLodge! The service is very good, they even set out fresh cookies for you at night at the front desk. And the walls are covered with photos and newspaper clippings of famous people who have been there over the years. Since it is so well-known, they are host to a lot of parties, but the hotel is large enough that you won't be bothered.
For a city that is sorely lacking in character, this hotel is a refreshing break from the technically-oriented town that surrounds it. But you can't escape the engineers' influence completely, as this is one of the few places where you can "rent" a computer in order to get your Internet fix.
