Lone Pine
The stay in Lone Pine was somewhat dull as there wasn't much to do. As the hotel is situated onthe 'main strip' it was a nice little walk to and from the restaurant/bar that night.
The views from the hotel were amazing, and the hotel itself was in the right place.
The room was liek any other Best western - clean, tidy, clean and up to scratch. We couldn't have asked for a better room.
Unique Quality: The pool was nice, with the Whitney Mountains in the background, and the area was clean and tidy, yet i seemed to be getting attacked by a lot of small flies. Whether this has anything to do with location I;m not too sure, but if you are to stay in this area then bring a lot of fly repellant!

Befitting of a stay in Lone Pine
The Best Western Frontier Motel puts the focus on Lone Pine's history as a back drop for countless Hollywood films over the past 80 years, mostly westerns. The rooms contain art and photos reminiscent of the old west in California and stills from many of the movies made in the area. Many of the rooms are also dedicated to various stars and are noted as such with a placard on the room door. One can stay in the John Wayne room for example. Our room appeared to be dedicated to Brad Dexter, who played one of the Magnificent Seven.
Besides all that the Frontier is a nice place to stay as well. Our room was very roomy with a king-sized bed, desk, table & two chairs, wardrobe, mini-refrigerator, and dresser. The bathroom had a lot of counter space and was spotless. Rooms have high-speed internet access via ethernet cable or if you're near or in the common areas (e.g., lobby) you can patch into the wireless signal. Outside is a pool and a lawn area which chairs where you can take in the late afternoon coolness and admire the view of the mighty Sierra Nevada to the west.
Free continental breakfast from 5-10am is more than adequate. Service was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

History and Convenience
This motel is at the entrance to the town. Each room is named for an actor who was involved in films, mostly western, made in Lone Pine in the golden age of Hollywood, and the rooms are decorated with photos of that actor. It is a great place to stay during a fishing trip. Some of the rooms have whirlpool tubs, and the entire place has lovely views of the mountains.
