Hi there. We plan to use some points for a one-night stay at one of the Best Westerns in Long Beach this October. Can anyone recommend which Best Western is the best (property, location etc.) -
- Best Western at the Convention Centre
- Best Western of Long Beach
- Best Western Golden Sails
Also, some friends want to book a room (up to $110 roughly) in a good location at the same time (October) - not necessarily at a Best Western if they can find something better. Any advice on a great hotel in that price range would be great.

convention center will put u right in downtown, nice dining and entertainment
The Convention Center would be my choice. It is within walking distance from a lot of happening things. The Golden Sails is pretty old and really not very appealing. It isn't close to downtown LB but it is close to Belmont Shore which is a charming area you must see. You might even see Cameron Diaz shopping with her sister here. Long Beach has a little free bus that will take you to many places within a large area including Belmont Shore.

go to visitor guides that are conveniently located along 1st, especially during the summer season, on Friday during the Farmer's Market and on weekends. Thankfully there are guides to help even the local like me find the nearest bank or the best way to a store or cultural site, let alone the out-of-towners wanting directions to the Queen Mary.
This walk around the coast,the harbour I enjoyed most.Walk to Shoreline village and around the harbour.Beautiful views,very clean area.See the fisherman,take a look at the Queen Mary from the roundwalk/harbour. the harbour area.
One may have heard about Long beach as the "L.B.C." by hip hop star Snoop Dogg, who hails from here. You'll hear locals say L.B.C or just L.B. around the city. Well, why not shorten every city name for the convenience of us locals? :-)
The weather here is pretty temperate since it is on the water. Expect temperatures ranging from 70-85 degrees F during the day in the summer. Temperatures usually drop to around 50-60 degrees in the evenings during the summer. The winters are mild with temperatures ranging from 35-68 degrees.
Here is the artsy, bohemian part of Long Beach - East Village. Come here if you are attracted to bright color, hippie culture and unique avant-garde stuff. Some of themost unique coffeeshops,eateries, art galleries and boutiques of the great L.A. area are here in thei nouveau nook of L.B. The attitude here is definitely open and progressive.
