Not pretty, but not a bad deal.
We flew in and out of Long Beach, so it seemed easiest to stay over there. The Best Western was clean, comfortable, and convenient. It's NOT in a pleasant area of Long Beach, but it was pretty cheap ($69) and the PCH was right outside the door, so we had an easy time finding it in the AM.
Warning: It's a popular place for people prior to taking a cruise. Make sure you call to confirm your reservation, and get ready to see white pants and red stilettos on a Sunday morning.
Unique Quality: It's a non-smoking facility, but some dufus walked around in the hallway smoking. Apparently a smoking customer started a fire several years ago and the insurance is too high to make smoking in the rooms an option.
The free breakfast is pretty sparse. We stopped for coffee at the Wild Oats on the way to San Diego. I took a banana and my husband had cereal. Don't plan on anything more substantial.
